Really wanted to get the best out of coming to the Cairngorms and this was one of those places. The loch here is do picturesque and myself and my husband were extremely lucky enough to see a little herd of female deer!

This is one of my favourite places in Scotland where you are almost guaranteed to see red deer and in the summer months grouse. You might even catch a glimpse of the Queen. Great walks around the loch and if you're a hill climber, you...More

We walked around the loch , wrapped up and warm on a blustery and rainy day. As the rain subsided, a rainbow came out and such a spectacle to see. We saw at least 40 deer with antlers so large it’s hard to not be...More

Great place to see both red squirrels, stags and loch Muick, Lochnigar also walking distance. Due to the location it's very windy in the winter months, it was 13 deg in Ballater the day we visited, yet, we still needed hats, gloves and scarves. I...More

1st time doing loch Muick. Lovely circula r route that was fairly flat round most of it. Took us 3 hours from start to finish, including a break for sandwiches. Even had a flyover with 2 jets.

£4 for the car park but that’s all day. Lovely snowy walk but access road is generally clear. Bring a rucksack with flask for a halfway breather and admire the views. Bring binos to spot wildlife on your way around.

Glen Muick (deer park) is about half an hour from Ballater. Over the bridge out of the village and turn right. A lot of single track road. Parking cost £4 . We visited on New Year’s Day 2019. It was bitterly bitterly cold but made...More

I've been round twice with the bridge down. It's right at the top where the streams enter the Loch. It's a bit of a paddle. If it's been wet, or snow melt then the water will be faster and deeper - depending on footwear... More

Good walking boots, walking poles are very good also. A nice lunch, sensible clothes (to match the weather) and a camera!
