Love BP! I come walking there every week and even though I am the only person with no dog I feel welcomed by everyone. Locals are friendly, the park itself lends itself for walks, photography, hide and seek with the kids, coffee and gossip with friends and anything you can imagine. Great place to make new friends if you are new in town!

One of my close friends moved here so my other friends and I decided to surprise her. We spent hours in this park reminiscing about the good old days.

This is an excellent park and beautiful space for everyone - built in the late Victorian era it has magnificent trees and a great lake, with swans, ducks and a variety of birds - the grandchildren love it and so should we all!

We live in Bedford and have always found Bedford Park the ideal place for taking the grandchildren when they visit. Its play area is extremely child friendly with something for all ages. The grandchildren also love to feed the ducks on the little lake in the park and run around its perimeter. The park also hosts Proms in the Park every year with great success. This year Tom Jones performed in the park to a massive audience, a very impressive evening. The park now has the Pavilion cafe which receives great reviews. All in all, Bedford Park has everything going for it.

Pleasant way to start a Saturday with a parkrun. Lots of open space and a lake. Tennis courts and cafe.

We only live about 5 minutes from the park & we are so grateful to have such a beautiful little space on our doorstep.
The park itself is a little slice of tranquility in the middle of a busy town, great place to walk & escape to for some peace & quiet. Lovely big fields for kids to play in & lovely ponds to see local wildlife.
The cafe is also great, lovely food & drink (although slightly pricey) and the staff are great - I visited with my son when he was only a few weeks old & as a new mum I was very anxious but the staff made me feel so welcome, helped me get the buggy in & out of the cafe and reassured me I was doing a good job! Really made my day.

I have been to Bedford park 4 times in the past few months , as we have moved nearby. The park is a long oval shape , with a large pond , and plenty of wildlife. there is a Victorian looking Bandstand, and a lovely tea rooms. At one end you can access playing fields , at the opposite end you can take a short walk up a steep hill, (called Cemetery hill I believe) . At the top of the hill if you turn right you can walk back down through the cemetery , which is quite becalming , and then back through the park .
A nice walk with a twist.

The park is huge and is walkable 10/15 mins from the town centre. This park has 2 purpose built play areas for kids which are fenced off and keep the kids amused for a good hour or two!. There is a large path around the park which has huge green and wooded areas, a large lake with ducks etc and a central cafe where you can have a snack or ice cream etc. Probably takes a good 45/60 mins to walk around the park great for letting kids have a run or cycle without the fear of cars etc. there are also tennis courts. Plenty of off street parking. On a nice day the large grass areas are perfect for a picnic and let the kids run around or play ball etc. The park is big enough to have a couple of thousand people/kids and yet still plenty of room to relax!. Well worth a visit any time of the year, even in winter, the path areas provide a perfectly safe walking/cycling area and its free!. Enjoy

Is it worth paying for green room or VIP tickets for a concert ?

Can you do a bbq in this park and if so, where? I don’t have a garden and was told this is the only place in Bedford that allows bbq.
Written September 14, 2019
Yes you can do a bbq in any public park. PParking in Bedford is always a problem unless you want to park on Saturday for a few hours free in town or all day Sunday. Out side Bedford Park has parkinng along the street avoid the yellow lines though. Have a great BBQ.

We are going to the Proms here this year. Is there parking with VIP tickets?
Written April 16, 2019
That I do not know it is a very popular event and there are generally cones out around the local streets. Best bet would be to park in one of the public car parks and walk to the event

Does the park close at night? I want to do a walk that finishes by walking through the park but this will likely be dusk/after dark?
