    Great history
We visited just part of the wall me Greenhead. Parked up and paid. There’s a tourist information p, cafe and toilets here. Walked up to the Wall. It’s pretty amazing for a wall, to still be there and to be able to touch it. Parts of the wall are missing, (hidden underground now apparently) but the views are amazing. It’s very hilly, and I would suggest be sensible with footwear. Great to see this amazing part of history

    Great area
Lots of lovely walks along the wall parts are quite challenging so pick your route to suit your abilities. It can also be busy so carparks fill up quickly. We went to sycamore gap, parking at steel Rigg carpark. The views are stunning, well worth a visit

    Great Historical visit
Hadrian's Wall ran from west to east across England south of Scotland. Portions of it are visible in many places. We visited it about an hour north of York. It is well worth seeing.

    Amazing
I found this incredible how it's stood the test of time to think it was built all those years ago by the Romans. OK its just a wall but it's the history of it I thought it was awesome. Their was a ranger nearby and she told us the grass and moss growing on top is preserving it. The view and scenery where it is is just incredible I was in Awe by the whole thing.

    Winter walk
Did another stretch of the wall today and actually saw some wall! First two days from Bo’ness to Carlisle and Carlisle to Lanercost Priory there are no remains at all. The first bit of wall appears just East of there and then there are a number of mile castles, watch towers and signal stations. These all have very informative display boards and make the walk much more interesting. Signage in a few locations like Gilsland is a bit poor but mostly it’s easy to follow.

    Lovely area
Lovely day out. Very cold in February though. Best advice is : Buy an #nglish heritage monthly pass if you're not a member. There are a good few sites at the area charging £8 + pp. It will save you some money.

    Explore Hadrian's Wall
Hadrian's Wall was built by the Roman Empire to separate the Scottish barbarians from England. The Wall runs from East to West; it took 15,000 men six years to build. It's 73 miles (117 km) long. These days, you can explore Hadrian's Wall, it's said to be one of the finest walls remaining from ancient civilization.

Impossible to see it all in a day
It is impossible to see the entire wall in a day. We only visited small sections at a time. One day we walked a section of the wall itself, thru a sheep field and up a steep hill, down a steep hill, up again and down... The next day we visited Vindolanda site and were amazed at the organization of the army fort. Put a little planning into your visit and you will have a great time exploring. If you only have a day to visit, I highly recommend Vindolanda.

Our drive alongside Hadrian's Wall was a journey through history, but it left us with mixed feelings. While we admired the Wall's importance and the cleverness of the ancient Romans who built it, seeing the sparse remains up close was a bit underwhelming. We were a little to early to stop at the visitor centre but maybe they would have had more to see.
