Talking Tran is one of those little known secrets which local people visit often as I do myself.a walk around the Tarn takes about 35 minutes.I usually take a short rest then walk again in the opposite direction.There are Reggata,s held on the Tarn at times during the year.in summer a cafe is open although it's a while since I... The walk around the tarn is very flat with good footpaths for all weathers. It is around 1 mile or just over to go all the way around and there are plenty of seats around the tarn. You can feed the ducks or just enjoy the fresh air and tranquility. There is a small coffee shop and gift shop.

This is a jewel. A lovely easy walk around the tarn with tranquility and beauty. My only issue is th few dog owners who seem to consider the tarn a toilet for their dogs. We pass many people with digs and few are carrying poop bags but th dogs have obviously pooped! Think the parking charge is fair.how else will... More

A great place to walk the dogs, take a picnic, do a spot of birdwatching, or just to chill out. Excellent cafe too plus play area for the younger kids. One of our favourite haunts around Carlisle.

This is a lovely place to walk, good flat ground, also a coffee shop if you need a rest overlooking the lake. It's just the cost of parking the car. Around £2.20p. Boats can be hired and Dog friendly too. \f0\fs34 \cf0 \expnd0\expndtw0\kerning0 \outl0\strokewidth0 \strokec2 \ }

I love it here, went for a few walks around the tarn in June, sadly in the evening when the coffee shop is closed (I have been in there before and they do a good latté). Always a lovely walk, sometimes the noisy rowing club people or swimmers who you can hear from the other side of the tarn can... More

Went here late in the afternoon after a walk on Hadrians Wall. The cafe was really good with a lovely lady serving. We sat on the decking overlooking the water. It was really relaxing. There were lots of people walking round the lake so it was ideal for dog walkers, kids and anyone else who just fancied a wander. Really... More

The paths have been upgraded and the car park is now tarmac. Often an interesting exhibition in the boat house. Cafe is very good for light meals and a good selection of ice cream on sale in the kiosk. Boats can be hired at the landing stage

I took my two granddaughters last year after the local WI's etc had decorated the trees at Talkin with knitted and crocheted animals fish insects etc., they were delighted with the overall display. Every tree and shrub had something more amazing than the last. Hopefully there will be something similar this year. Even if not, the walk around the lake... More
