We went for a wander around. You have to be careful as the steps inside the castle are steep or uneven surface. It doesnt have much inside like other castles but it has rich history information on one of the room.

Carlisle Castle is an impressive site in the centre of the City. Inside, though, it’s sadly disappointing. Rooms are mostly empty, with very little in terms of information or explanation. Glad we visited but won’t be back in a hurry.

the castle is amazing to see with the history and the views it holds, lots of steep steps so not for the fainthearted but well worth the climb. and visit the coffee shop the guy who runs it is amazing to talk to.

Very impressive building , in general a very historical place to visit. The town itself is also packed full of historical buildings surrounded by great parks, also the bridge over the Eden. The climb to the castle is Definately worth it.

The English Heritage site is well worth a visit. We have young children and a teenager and we all enjoyed exploring. There are a few information panels and a small exhibition and also spiral staircases and dungeons!

Sorry this took so long to answer. We didn't do the torch walk, so I cannot give an honest review.
