We had Sunday lunch at this restaurant recently and it was disappointing.. The building is pretty but it looks a bit dingy and disorganised inside..The staff are not very helpful and it feels like you are sitting in somebodies house uninvited.. This was our second visit and the first time a few years back was not good either but wanted to try it again. The food is very basic, the vegetables were served all squished together in one large bowl for everybody.. they looked like a bag of veggies that had been microwaved.. The beef was ok but not so tender, Yorkshires over cooked.. The best part was some parsnips which I ordered separately and were quite nice.. The desserts also appeared to be frozen kind with budget type ice cream.. This restaurant has the potential to be a good, it is a pretty building in a nice village.. but food and service need to be seriously upgraded to reflect the prices.. Harvester is much better than this and much cheaper.

This is the second Christmas Day meal we've had at the Old Anchor and it was splendid! Lovely surroundings, all beautifully decorated. Attentive staff and excellent choice on the menu. As one of our party does not each meat she was grateful for more than one choice! Our only complaint if any is that it is quite pricey compared with other venues locally but the surroundings and choice is of a better quality. We also feel that although you are given one canapé each on arrival for the Christmas Meal, it would be nice to be offered a prosecco/bucks fizz or something equivalent for non-drinkers. Having said that, we really enjoyed it and will make next year our third Christmas there if we're at home. It's a superb feeling to be able to wander back home and not clear up the mess after the Christmas meal! We've also been there for meals with friends, Groupon weekday meals, and also eaten from the main menu. As mentioned, it can be pricey but we've never experienced a bad meal there so would recommend. Someone has pointed out that the car park is across a busy road. It is, however, there is one which is more than can be said for a lot of places and it isn't something any of our friends have complained about. Perhaps living reasonably locally we are used to the road. Definitely worth a visit especially during the year on Groupon as you get the quality at less cost!

We enjoyed our evening meal. The servers were attentive and apparently caring without being overbearing.

Amazing place but food is just not up to a great, consistent standard. Regardless of choice of food the presentation & taste is very average.

Noisy small and dingy bedroom - pleasant staff - extremely poor breakfast, nothing other than cooked food - car park across
a busy cross roads - expensive for what it is.
