Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

We love walking through castle park because there's so much to see. The plants are well-tended and we enjoy the sense of history with old signs bringing reminders a time gone by. I believe it has won awards and Think they are well-deserved.

Castle park excellent for young children. Very well kept and tidy. We visited the castle which was very expensive and not worth it.

Lovely park with snowdrops, crocus and daffodils. Nice walk by the river and is obviously very floral in summer.

The park is lovely and located at the end of the high street. If you walk a bit, downhill, you will find a great children's playground with many free attractions. Surely worth a visit if you have a family with kids.

Well kept and maintained. Loads to do for children. Park wardens operate to keep out unruly people and alcohol completely banned from park unless there's events on. Definitely worth a visit if visiting colchester for the day.

It's free to get in. Some events have paid entry but this is rare and never shut the whole park.

Free to get in, some events require paid entry but this is rare and never close the whole park. Search Colchester Castle Park events on line to see what's happening when.
