Colchester's distinctive heritage is nowhere more apparent than in Castle Park. A site of national importance, this Victorian Park contains evidence of 2000 years of history and is a landscape moulded by the people of Colchester over many eras.Castle Park not only encompasses much of Colchester's rich heritage within its boundaries but is much loved and used as a part of present day life. It boasts over 1 million visitors a year. Providing a green oasis in the town centre, you can sit, walk, enjoy music, play games, or picnic amongst wonderful flowers and trees. Its horticulture is award-winning and the park has long been a superb venue for the town's big events. The park itself is designated Grade II on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.

Not always apparent but behind the Castle there is a glorious park that stretching down hill to the River Colne. there are large grass areas and trees to give shade on warm sunny days. The park is used for various events during the year such as the Medieval Fayre and Scotland in Colchester.

We expected a quick stroll around a standard green space but we're delighted to be met with stunning displays of the flower bee trail all around the castle. Really very well done and maintained in the high temperatures of last week. The park contains a few lakes, one with boats, two super adventure parks catering for all ages, sporting opportunities... We're very lucky to have the Castle Park. It's always beautifully maintained and the addition of a new, separate play area for younger children is a big plus. A great asset to the town

Visited the park on sunday and thoroughly enjoyed it. A band was playing on the bandstand, which was very good, the flower gardens were beautiful and the cafe was a very welcome stop. The children are also well catered for in their play area. Well worth a visit.

A beautiful castle, that provides great history of Colchester. A very important piece of history that educates the young as well as the adults. I took my partner who recently moved to Colchester, and it made me proud of my hometown.
