Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol exhibition is good currently, however normally every time I go in there, there is hardly any art. Such a big space but not a lot going on, which is a shame.

This art gallery is quite interesting! It doesn't have a lot of art work being shown but instead it has a big focus on creativity. Indeed, there're quite a few workshops, mostly aimed towards young kids, where you can express yourself artistically! And some art works are brilliant to be honest! Also the entrance is free ;)

We went during a kids art focus weekend with Andy Warhol as the theme. Kids (4yo girl, 8 yo boy) both loved the painting by numbers, the shadow drawing and the diy printing. Always a favourite, always will come back.

I live very near to Firstsite and go there 1-3 a week. I have a toddler and she absolutely loves it not just as a space to run around while I look at the work, but also because there is always something for kids to do. She has developed a near obsession with drawing thanks to the little table and... More

Entry is free. The gallery is quite small and had a few exhibitions on which you can look round in minutes. The cafe is poor with a very limited offering. If you want to eat in nicer surroundings use the other cafe across the road through the small gate.

I took my children to the Andy Warhol exhibition and they enjoyed looking around. I liked that they gave children a craft project to do (£1) as walking around a gallery isn't their favourite thing but it did make them think about the pictures. we were going to use the cafe afterwards but it didn't look as if they had... Good selection of Andy Warhol pieces well displayed and curated. Excellent to see the iconic, and somewhat locally maligned firstsite putting on major works.

Some interesting exhibits recently but more needs to be done to make it appealing to all. We loved the recent exhibition using Constable pieces (not the real paintings but prints!) to make a fuseball table, table tennis and pool table. Very innovative way of getting younger children involved with art and great family fun instead of stuffy exhibits or piles... More

Although we've lived within easy reach of Colchester for a couple of years, until the Andy Warhol exhibition was advertised we didn't realise this place existed! We were very pleased to see such exhibits so local to us, and were also interested in the other two artists' work, as well as being impressed with the area where anyone can get... More

Came here for the Andy Warhol exhibition. Exhibition was pretty decent. The venue is great, really cool design and spacious too but with plenty room to put on a show. Only think that let it down was the cafe area, reckon it could do with a slight spruce up.
