We have visited several times and have noticed the improvements. We went to see Grayson Perry's Life of Julie Cope which was excellent. With tapestries, ceramics, woodcuts, audio and sketchbooks there was much to see and listen to in the detail and excellent exhibits. Loved...More

Often pop in here when in town and I must say they have seemed to upped their game over the last year or so (currently a superb stint from Grayson Perry's collection in the main area). Whilst it is a striking building, the internal shape...More

I went to firstsite to see the Grayson Perry exhibition. What a privilege to have something like this in Colchester. Very moving and totally absorbing. However, it's always disappointing at how little there is to see here. Huge amounts of blank space or items with...More

We had some tasty cake and coffee on arrival. The Grayson Perry exhibition is perfect for this space and well worth a visit. Such a talented and emotive artist. The Life of Julie Cope will have you laughing one moment and crying the next all...More

This cafe serves vegan cake, which is great but all the food is rather expensive. A good pot of tea for £2 and coffee is made from freshly ground beans.

Glad to see this place is at last being utilised for other purposes, as the venue for the bi monthly record fair is an excellent idea, attracting many more patrons to a place that up to recently was an embarrassment to the town, hope that...More

The Grayson Perry exhibition is certainly worth a visit. This is an interesting gallery in the town centre, architecturally unusual with good facilities. Attractive cafe and seating area easily accessible with a well thought out shop.

It’s great to see the Grayson Perry exhibition in Colchester! I’ve been waiting for Firstsite to develop in this way. It’s an amazing building but floundered after it opened. We’ve been to a few things there recently and it’s clearly back on track with a...More

One suddenly comes across the space-age style building which is still not finished. It must have cost a fortune to build but so few people in there. Maybe a new venture & not yet well known (we came across it by accident, no previous knowledge)....More
