Colchester Zoo is constantly developing and has won many awards for its work. With over 270 species to see, set in 60 acres of beautiful parkland and lakes, Colchester Zoo is well worth a visit. As you walk around the zoo there's plenty of play areas to try out including the indoor soft play area Jungle Tumble with a section for under 3s and all new play equipment where the kids can release their wild side! New enclosures include a walk through enclosure with butterflies and another with Rainbow Lorikeets offering visitors a chance to feed them a treat of nectar. Plus there's 'Bears of the Rising Sun', a state of the art enclosure which houses two beautiful sun bears , Jo Jo and Srey Ya. You can also come face to face with Komodo Dragons, see white rhino, giraffes, ostrich and kudu roaming together at Kingdom of the Wild and walk underwater through the 24m tunnel at the Playa Patagonia sealion pool. Learn more about the animals and see them up close by watching one of the 50 daily displays. You even get the fantastic opportunity to feed the elephants and giraffes yourself and take a ride on the 'Lost Madagascar Express' road train! Don't forget to pop into the discovery centre and have a go at handling some unusual bugs or get your face painted and transform yourself into your favourite animal!

We go at least 6 times a year with the kids, great value if you buy an annual pass. Good play areas, indoor and out, plus of course a large zoo with plenty of interactive opportunities. Rolling programme of renovation means that zoo is getting steadily better and better.

I love it here. They are always adding new things and you can really see where the money goes. We paid for a gold card so you can visit as many times as you like in one year. I've been to a few zoos and this is by the far the best one.

I've always been a fan of the zoo, since childhood, and now we've just purchased membership cards so we can take our baby. The zoo offers so much for everyone - young and old, whether you've driven a long way to have a full day and see everything or are just popping to see a few things, enjoy the children's... More

Went to do a keeper shadowing with the Sloths. My keeper was very friendly and really knowledgeable and had a real passion for the animals in her care. I spent one on one time in the enclosure just the keeper and I and the animals. I smiled so much my face hurt. It was all arranged very well and afterwards... More

Lovey place to go. Beautiful walks round to see all the animals. Free map to help you get around the park, always useful. Plenty of sign posts enable to tell you where you are and what animals you're coming up to! Food and drink is quiet expensive like you'd imagine for these attractions! They have great places to have picnics... More

I visit the zoo once a week on average with my young son using my gold card. We not only get a whole day of fun out of it but we also use the jungle tumble soft play which would easily cost me a fiver anywhere else. The gold card is exceptional value. The zoo itself is great - would... More

We visited with our 20 month daughter and my mother in law and had a fantastic day. We often visit zoos and this was the best I've been to in a long time. The animals had lovely enclosures and looked happy. Most of the viewing areas are undercover or indoors which was great on a rainy day. They'd thought about... More

Decided to visit the zoo while in the area. Wasnt sure what to expect and was concerned it would be more for children (i dont have any) i was wrong and adults can enjoy it just as much. There is plenty of parking space and once you enter the zoo theres plenty to see, so many different species to see.... More
