This abbey's beauty is only multiplied by the river that no doubt convinced the monks to settle there still flows through the buildings of this beautiful settlement. The ruins have clearly been heavily pillaged over the years but they are still wonderful to look at....More

Built 1100 Roche Abbey a Catholic monestry and place of worship. Henry 8th destroyed the Abbey as his people did throughout the North. It's still clear to see the shape of the Abbey and grounds are easy to get to and walk around.

Although a ruin, thanks to Henry VIII one can still see what this place must have looked like in its prime. Walking round the woods and perimeter can take you back.

Visited Roche Abbey after seeing it mentioned in the museum at Clifton Park. Walked round the outside of the fenced area being able to see the ruins without paying. Which for our visit was a blessing and children were climbing on the ruins and having...More

They are what it says they are. A beautiful quiet area out the way, nicely kept grounds and easy accessed. The staff was helpful and pointed out a nice woodland walk follows around it also which includes a small man made waterfall

Yes, there is a charge to get in - is it worth it, not sure there is a path down the left which you can walk down and see everything
