For over 1000 years, people have been gathering in this holy place to offer their prayers and praise to Almighty God. As they still do every day. It’s difficult to tell from a website, but here we are located right in the centre of the city, surrounded by shops and businesses, with people passing our doors as they go about their daily life. Many of those people stop by to light a candle, say a prayer, or spend a moment of stillness and calm.

I like the information centre and the coffee and gift shop in the hall. I also enjoyed looking around and attending the morning holy communion service.

An absolute gem of a building, ideal for winding down after shopping in the hectic centre. As soon as you walk in you feel relaxed and positive

Beautiful cathedral, inside and out. The rood screen worth seeing and other beautiful carvings. Organ recitals worth a visit and services with choir excellent. A great musical venue. Many other events held here including coffee days.

The Cathedral is located right in the centre of Wakefield. It is a lovely historic building and larger than we expected. Visitors are welcome and there is information on the history when you go inside. The Cathedral is open to visitors from 9.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Saturday and is free although donations are welcome. The stained glass is lovely... More

Small bite-size mini cathedral which ticks all the cathedral boxes and has the advantage of being positioned right in the middle of the shopping area. This has all the things expected of a cathedral, nice Windows, decent architecture, tower and fancy woodwork etc but has the advantage of being about 1/4 of the size of most cathedrals and thus it... I have visited the cathedral many times over the years on a variety of occasions. A few years ago the cathedral was closed for renovations, when re opened I couldn't believe how the interior had been ruined. Gone were the historic pews and in their place individual plastic chairs giving it the feeling of a large conference centre. The alter... More

Excellent rapport with audience and good use of building as the backdrop for the story. The actors were good at involving everyone and a new slant was put on the life of Christ as the politics were brought up to date by the involvement of the Miners Strike and Iraq. The time span was 1984 to 2016. Christ was portrayed as... More
