The Shell Bay ferry is ran by old rude bearded men that clearly dislike their job. Travel by car or by bike and you get the same grunts.

It is easy to tell the order of priorities of this company. It goes... 1. Themselves. 2. Its customers.

We arrived at this ferry, having cycled some way to it with the intention of crossing and continuing our cycle on the other side.

The only way to buy a ticket is by using a coin machine. This machine does not accept credit card or phone payment. It is well known that not many people use coins in these Covid times, and accordingly many enterprises have responded by providing alternative means of payments - even local authorities.

There were no staff in evidence, and no signage like "Our staff will be happy to help." and so no option but to retrace our steps and go home.

We have tried many times to use the ferry over the years that we have lived in poole for our days out exploring the different areas. We have been let down so many time as the updates on there website are not always correct and when you arrive it just is not working or you are meet with a sign.

as soon as you get on the ferry and the chains start to clank you are leaving work behind (Poole side) and heading off on a holiday to a foreign country! Clearly you aren't but the ferry does add a proper "going on vacation" vibe!

I love chain ferries, especially ones that work efficiently and aren't too expensive. Sandbanks Ferry saves the long road route around Wareham, and offers stonking views across to Brownsea Island. Catch the Purbeck Breezer 50 and you can ride the ferry on the open top deck, anticipating the ride through the moneyed streets that lead to Poole and Bournemouth. Or catch it as a pedestrian, climbing to the viewing platform for the all-too short crossing. Big ships leaving Poole Harbour are seen close-up, which is quite a sight.

Quick and efficient, reasonably priced passenger and vehicel ferry between Sandbanks and Studland.

Chain pulled rather than free floating, so it is back and forward with ease. can be lengthy queues at busy times as only one ferry, but otherwise great...and the views out arent bad either.

Weren't heading for a ferry till our satnav tookus that way. I'm glad it did. A great but pricey ferry trip. Although I thought we would have to wait quite a time we didn't as it such a large ferry. Use it.

Why drive to Bournemouth when you can go on a ferry?! It was a short crossing and parked behind a ferrari, which the kids were over the moon about as they're obsessed with them currently.. for £5, great experience

Great experience, bike is your best option as there can be big queues in the morning on the Poole side and even bigger when the beaches empty at teatime coming back.quickly loaded about 30 cars a time on takes 5 mins to cross
