Simon Anstell`s new performance low...
Oct 2021
I went to see the Simon Anstell performance "Spirithole" here recently. I booked it on the evidence of his TV performances on "Never Mind The Buzzcocks"...on which I found him quite amusing. Although I was well aware that he is a gay, Jewish comedian, nothing prepared me for the vulgar, crass and graphic homosexual references that littered his performance. Jokes were conspicuous by their absence and most of his material seemed sourced from his various sordid (by his own admission) gay encounters around the world, notably in New York and german s & m clubs. Neither my wife and I are prudes and both of us enjoy camp humour but graphic verbal illustrations of what gay people actually do with each other goes too far. The theatre could have at least posted notice online and at the theatre that the performance contained graphic and explicit homosexual references. What if I had taken my aged parents?....I left the theatre feeling grubby and disappointed.

Nice venue, but horrible seating.
Oct 2019 • Friends
The venue is nice enough, a lovely old building. Which has been done up well and the toilet facilities are good for the type of place.

The seats though, for the 3 hour performance we attended were back breaking. They are just standard dining chairs side by side, so pretty tight. And no room for movement at all. Airplane economy seats have more comfort and space!!

Could hardly walk by time we left as had been that uncomfortable during the performance.

Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson excellent entertainment in a very poor venue
Oct 2019
Having had tickets for over a year we were looking forward to seeing Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson. we were aware it was sold out. On arrival we decided to go to the bar for a drink. The bar is tiny and all drinks came in plastic cups !!! With so much being said about plastic I cannot understand why polycarbonate glasses cannot be used. There were only a small numbers of toilets and at the interval these were rammed therefore I had to hold on until the end. Due to the event being a sell out I was concerned when it came to leave as it took a consideably amount of time for people to filter out of the doors down the stairs. I would worry what would happen if they had to evacuate in a hurry. The chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. The staff were very friendly and did their best. I would recommend the council put some money into this location to make it a prime location as it suggests it is. I will not be coming back in a hurry. I would recommend The Regent and Wholsey Theatre in Ipswich or the Apex in Bury St Edmunds.

Great venue, great performance, great night out! Managed to find parking not too far away and walked over. Had pre-booked tickets and these were quickly and easily collected from the box office beforehand. Stunning building inside the hall! Friendly staff - recommended!

5 stars for Joe Lycett but 1 star for the venue
Apr 2018 • Couples
We saw the Joe Lycett show here which was amazing however the venue is sadly lacking, very friendly staff at the bar but ordered drinks in advance for the interval to find they were not ready and huge queues at the bar. Needs better organasation.

PROSECCO AND FIZZ FESTIVAL
Nov 2017 • Friends
Went here at the weekend with a group of friends for the above. Venue TBH isn't anything to shout about, but the festival was good, few 100 women (and a few brave men) drinking over 20 types for bubbles whilst dancing and socialising... a good laugh...
