Easy to miss this statue normally. But is currently adorned with a colourful knitted shawl. I think this is all part of the pig thing currently going on around the town centre. Nice to have statues like this around town

Being a Tutor-period lover, stopping by Cardinal Wolsey's statue was a must while in town. This is located downtown, and is a nice monument to the town's (in)famous son.

It is a lifelike statue and gives a good impression of how Wolsey might have looked. It was long overdue that Ipswich celebrated him. Like him or not, he was a very important figure in those turbulent Tudor times.

Unless you seek this out or accidentally go past it you won't see this statue. Situated near Silent Street this statue is near where he use to live.

Ipswich has a lot of statues remembering the great people who have lived in the town. This one for Cardinal Wolsey is probably the least inspiring. Wolsey was certainly a powerful man in his day, but this statue is rather insignificant.

Not a lot to see here folks! Get out on foot and walk around Ipswich and see what else the town has to offer!

The area around the statute is interesting and worth a visit, but the statue of such a famous son of Ipswich is a bit of a wasted opportunity in my opinion. Looks like he's in a boat. I would have expected something more impressive. All a bit disappointing.

Cardinal Wolsey was probably one of the most powerful man of his time, before he fell out of favour with the King. The Statute is a the top of St. Peters Street, Ipswich & is positioned near to where his family used to live. The town has statues to football managers, a rugby player, & a cartoonist & it is... Best statue in Ipswich by far. On a tour of Ipswich you often run into the odd wino or mildly paraletic local, but the substanstantial statue that is the Cardinal is an ocean of bronze in a sea of brown. Awesome. If you need a nice cask ale or quiet space to reflect you'd do worse than the Thomas Wolsey... More

Great statues like this add character to the town and give it an identity. Shame we don't have more!
