A uniquely interesting man, shame about his untimely death. Someone suggested the reason for his crash-landing is a mystery but we were told that he was in a hurry to get to a rugby match, took off his harness too soon & suffered the consequences...More

Well maybe, not so much. Interesting how it present three different aspects of his short fascinating life on the plinth. I'd only really heard of him in a rugby context before.

This very clever statue to Prince Alexander Obolensky is on the corner of St. Nicholas Street and the car park. It reflects his role as an England rugby international as well as a WWII pilot. I really like this memorial for it's simple but dramatic...More

Not quite sure what to make of this, but isn't that what art is all about? An interesting piece is a good way to describe it. Go see for yourself and make up your own mind! Lots of information about the man the statue remembers...More

Just outside the main centre the statue offers a talking point when people walk past and stop to find out its origins. Great piece and worthy of its place.

An unusual but interesting statue in Ipswich. Not in the very centre of town but is within easy walking distances, situated near one of the towns car park.

I like this statue very much and visit it whenever I am in Ipswich. It is a fine memorial to an exceptionally talented man who sadly lost his life in World War II.

In my opinion, it was a long time in the making to honour this gentleman, this is a fine statue to highlight his contribution and is quite a lovely location near the centre of town and not far from the Willis Building.
