- TerryMinuitLondon, United Kingdom154 contributionsExcellent museum.Very interesting museum with lots to see and read about. Surprisingly good for children and has its own child friendly seating area for children to do colouring in. The exhibits are in great condition and my daughter loved going on and off the buses and the fire engines. The staff are lovely and the cafe is excellent with great service and lovely food. We spent around an hour visitng the museum but you could easily stay for longer or indeed for less time and it would still be worthwhile.Visited October 2023Written October 24, 2023
- Sorry for the typos...London, United Kingdom192 contributionsGreat museumWe have visited this museum a few times and it’s always great. Today they were open for their Christmas event. The amount of effort that had gone into this was incredible. The lights were beautiful, covering the whole museum, it was like a winter wonderland. There was a treasure hunt for the kids with pictures around to find. Many vehicles were open to look around and we went on a bus ride around the nearby area included in our ticket. The volunteers around the museum, helping people park, checking everyone in, running the children’s hunt, in the cafe, driving/doing bus tickets were lovely. Oh and the lad doing the Christmas music was a great addition! Not to mention all the normal exhibits and great information that goes with them. We love to visit and would recommend to anyone.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten December 3, 2023
- Roger K3 contributionsA small, yet superb museum, with a wide variety of first-class exhibits. This is an excellent museum, with well-maintained exhibits that are regularly driven, very varied in nature and with a bias towards either manufacture or service locally. As a classic car restorer, I know and appreciate what it takes to restore or maintain vehicles such as these. The quality of paintwork, signwriting and trim is absolutely superb, and of a standard very rarely seen in even national museums. A huge bonus is being able to get in and sit in the coaches and buses - I could have sat in the sumptuous seats of the Bedford OB coach for hours. An absolute jewel of a museum that should not be missed.Visited June 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 17, 2024
- PeterLawford, United Kingdom125 contributionsAn incredible museumWhat an incredible museum! Our first visit. So much to see and do. Visited this afternoon with two of our grandchildren (aged 9 and 7) and we all had a great time. So much to see and much of it very nostalgic especially for my wife who grew up in Ipswich and had travelled on many of the buses! She also had owned an NSU Quickly similar to the one on display. Thoroughly enjoyed the tea room. The museum is run by an excellent team of volunteers who were all very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. We will return.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 22, 2024

We travelled from Clacton to have a day out in Ipswich and this was the first stop. We spent about 3 hours in there and our two kids loved it (age 7 and 11). All run by hard working volunteers who enjoy sharing their knowledge about the exhibits. You can go inside a few of the buses and others had a guided tour. The trolley bus was the most interesting and we got to ring the bell!! Had a nice cuppa and cake for very reasonable price. Toilets available too. Looking forward to visiting again

Interesting transport museum on the outskirts of Ipswich. Run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are happy to give you further information about the history of the museum and vehicles. Great you can also step aboard some of the vehicles. Cafe and small shop also within museum.

We walked all the way from the marina to visit and were glad that we did. It's so nice to see a living museum supported by enthusiastic volunteers who really care about this remarkable collection of transportation vehicles and memorabilia. Also, there's a cafe that offers simple food and drink for reasonable prices.

This is a wonderful gem of a museum. It's run by volunteers and has a vast collection of Trolley buses, trams and much, much more all beautifully restored. Anyone with the slightest interest in transport, in local or social history will be spellbound by this museum. The low entry fee and knowledge of the staff as you wonder round is exemplary. Most of the exhibits allow visitors to enter (unlike many museums) This makes it an even better experience. Thoroughly recommend

Superb museum in a massive hangar. Buses, trams, motorbikes, a model railway (watch out for the quirky cartoon characters who change all the time) - friendly staff, buses you can get on, and a nice little tea shop. Really fascinating. They do sometimes have a number of buses etc working - very well worth the effort to find out and go on one of those days.

great day out, we took the grandson (10, apprentice adult, and future bus enthusist...)
the volunteers who were there at the Museum were amazing, very friendly and helpful, it was not crowded, as the Museum had recently reopened after refurbishments, the cafe within the museum was most welcome for a cup of tea and sandwich, easy access all around the venue for me in a mobility scooter, recent changes to added ramps made it great, a couple of the rooms to the side had a small step! these rooms had other displays, like planes and trains, very interesting, aside from the ''transport'' vehicles, a collection of bikes, prams, motorbikes, cranes, farm implements, and lawn mowers, a bit for everyone to taste, the shop has the usual number of books videos tea towels and stuff for kids to colour and play with. we spent a few comfortable hours browing and taking photos of the beautiful restorations done, and those waaiting to be done.

Some great vehicles here, really well restored. Loads of history from fire engines and electric cars to prams and penny farthings, Thomas the tank on a model railway and big cranes. Really enjoyable and some very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

The onsite volunteers are really friendly and did an amazing job to restore the vehicles. While looking at the vehicles, one of the volunteers even asked us if we were interested to have a tour of one of the trams.
We were told the entire history of the tram and how it worked back in the day.
Totally recommend doing a visit as it gives you an idea how the transport in Ipswich used to work.
