What a brilliant recommendation. We asked our friends to help us as our grandchildren age 2 & 5 were coming over the summer break. The trip was affordable and the whole group really enjoyed everything about this place. The staff were really informative and friendly, the whole museum was well cared for and it wasn’t in the least bit stuffy and children were encouraged to enjoy everything in the museum without fear of being shouted down. It was wonderful. The cafe was really great but I thought very expensive, particularly as there were no deals for children’s lunches so the bill was steep. Apart from that there are no complaints and I would definitely visit again.

great day out, we took the grandson (10, apprentice adult, and future bus enthusist...)
the volunteers who were there at the Museum were amazing, very friendly and helpful, it was not crowded, as the Museum had recently reopened after refurbishments, the cafe within the museum was most welcome for a cup of tea and sandwich, easy access all around the venue for me in a mobility scooter, recent changes to added ramps made it great, a couple of the rooms to the side had a small step! these rooms had other displays, like planes and trains, very interesting, aside from the ''transport'' vehicles, a collection of bikes, prams, motorbikes, cranes, farm implements, and lawn mowers, a bit for everyone to taste, the shop has the usual number of books videos tea towels and stuff for kids to colour and play with. we spent a few comfortable hours browing and taking photos of the beautiful restorations done, and those waaiting to be done.

We travelled from Clacton to have a day out in Ipswich and this was the first stop. We spent about 3 hours in there and our two kids loved it (age 7 and 11). All run by hard working volunteers who enjoy sharing their knowledge about the exhibits. You can go inside a few of the buses and others had a guided tour. The trolley bus was the most interesting and we got to ring the bell!! Had a nice cuppa and cake for very reasonable price. Toilets available too. Looking forward to visiting again

This is a wonderful gem of a museum. It's run by volunteers and has a vast collection of Trolley buses, trams and much, much more all beautifully restored. Anyone with the slightest interest in transport, in local or social history will be spellbound by this museum. The low entry fee and knowledge of the staff as you wonder round is exemplary. Most of the exhibits allow visitors to enter (unlike many museums) This makes it an even better experience. Thoroughly recommend

We walked all the way from the marina to visit and were glad that we did. It's so nice to see a living museum supported by enthusiastic volunteers who really care about this remarkable collection of transportation vehicles and memorabilia. Also, there's a cafe that offers simple food and drink for reasonable prices.

Interesting transport museum on the outskirts of Ipswich. Run by a team of enthusiastic volunteers who are happy to give you further information about the history of the museum and vehicles. Great you can also step aboard some of the vehicles. Cafe and small shop also within museum.

We loved it all!!! So much ‘stuff’ to look at. We must have done about 10 circuits of the museum and found something different to look at each time. Who knew that looking at old petrol pumps could be so exciting!!!

All vehicles are refurbished and well kept. They are displayed to perfection with details of each exhibit. There is also a tea room and shop. Price has gone up recently, but still good value. Mainly open just on Sundays and school holidays.

Some great vehicles here, really well restored. Loads of history from fire engines and electric cars to prams and penny farthings, Thomas the tank on a model railway and big cranes. Really enjoyable and some very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Superb museum in a massive hangar. Buses, trams, motorbikes, a model railway (watch out for the quirky cartoon characters who change all the time) - friendly staff, buses you can get on, and a nice little tea shop. Really fascinating. They do sometimes have a number of buses etc working - very well worth the effort to find out and go on one of those days.
