My five year old has absolutely loved using the paddling pool , weve had two days in Llandudno and she's been in both days . When last here the workmen were just finishing doing the pool up and it now looks great .
The pool was very busy on both days yet lots of space around so didn't feel squashed up with others .
Toilets near to and little take away cafe too .

Lovely visit to the pool. Water clean and nearby toilets and changing facilities good. Bring your own inflatables, towels and chairs.
Free parking on the road.
Small reasonably priced café on site.

Good weather essential!!

Lovely well looked after paddling pool and as long as the weather is nice is defo worth a visit. Lovely scenery and a nice walk from the train station down the front. Did it fill the whole day-no! Is it worth a visit?-definitely! An hour or 2 here then we carried on into Llandudno pier and beach area. Always a fab place to visit, although on the train home colwyn bay looked worth a visit too. Sandy beach and that new cafe area. Love wales it’s so pretty 😍

Oh top tip there’s no deck chair hire so bring summat to sit on!! 😉

Fabulous shallow, massive paddling pool. Top end of town, more parking. Ample sitting room, and little tea shop

Visited here with my 4 children last week when we had very good weather, the pool was brilliant for the kids and overall quite clean. The one downside was that the only place to get food, drinks and snacks was from a little building with one person serving, the pool was very packed when we visited so I qued up for over 45 minutes just for a bottle of water, other than that it was brill. Best of all it is totally free to use the pool.

We visited here on a fairly warm sunny day and despite that the temperature of the water was freezing to the point of being unbearably cold. There was some changing facilities and a small cafe next to the pool for refreshments. To enjoy it here you would probably need a very hot day to use the pool.

For a town that markets itself as a family friendly resort Llandudno's two beaches are sadly lacking in the most basic of facilities, especially when it comes to hygiene and sanitation. The North Shore beach has no toilets at all and the West Shore has toilets that you have to pay 20p to use but don't always open up even if you pay. If you've got kids this pretty much writes off both beaches as a place to spend any length of time (unless you're staying in a hotel along the Prom and can keep popping back to your room every half an hour).

This lack of facilities probably explains why the paddling pool at Craig-y-Don has become the go-to place for huge numbers of families in recent years. If you visit on a hot day in the summer holidays you'll struggle to find a parking space within half a mile and the pool is likely to be packed out. We quite often visit after school/work and it's often still busy well into the evening. It seems as long as the sun is out there'll be people out paddling.

For us there are three main aspects which result in the pool beating the beaches as a family friendly destination. Firstly there are toilets which are useful both for the obvious but also as impromptu changing rooms, and even better they're free. There's a small cafe selling chips, ice creams and soft drinks. And finally there's clean(ish) water to rinse off the kids before they get in car so you don't have to spend half a day hoovering up sand when you get home. The pool is maintained by Conwy Council and the water is properly cleaned and chlorinated but obviously when you have hundreds of kids splashing around in it it's not exactly going to remain 100% pure all day but it's a lot cleaner and more hygienic than the water in the sea.

So my advice is if you've got kids and want a family friendly couple of hours of fun give the smelly beach a miss and head to Craig-y-Don instead.

Took daughters (10 & 7) today after a friend recommended it. We’ve previously been to the Beaumaris paddling pool (also recommended) but fancied a change. Although they’re a bit older now the girls had a brilliant time for several hours (and I had chance to read my book 😊). Toilets v clean, handy little shop, on the beach too which is pebbly but a nice backdrop. Pretty basic but FREE and the kids just loved the chance to mess around in the water.
