Not appropriate.

This is not suitable for young children. I moved my 6 year old son away after I seen one of the characters being beaten to death with a stick and another with a hangman’s noose around its neck while the puppeteer encouraged the crowd of children to cheer for him to be hung. In my opinion this is far to violent for young children.

First afternoon in Llandudno and thought, why not go and see this show.

Brought back memories. Also the show is very non pc which is fantastic in this woke world. Even in our 40's we still enjoyed your show.

Entertaining

Just relived my childhood!!! The punch and Judy show is still good old fashioned traditional entertainment for all at Llandudno. Been coming here for over 50 years and it still makes me laugh, as it did in my childhood. Would highly recommend!!!!

Totally Inappropriate for Children
Aug 2021 • Friends
My just turned six year old sat with all the other young children to watch the Punch and Judy show on the promenade. My 20 year old stood further back with us. We were disgusted to see the content - a man putting his head in a hangman’s noose whilst the children are encouraged to shout when Mr Punch gets near enough to pull the rope?! Then to make matters worse the Devil pops up with a dagger and stabs the man to death! (At this point many parents grabbed their shocked and terrified children and left). My six year old was in tears at the Devil and the knife, my ten year old shocked at the hangman’s noose! As someone who has sadly lost a friend this way it was horrible to see it used as entertainment and to impressionable children.

I understand it’s not funded by the council and the lady who runs the show was walking around with a collection tin. I would say until they can update the show to reflect modern day attitudes then this show is not suitable entertainment for the promenade at all.

Disgusting
Aug 2021 • Family
I love Punch and Judy and think it’s great that this is still going on the promenade HOWEVER the hoist and “hangman” was disgusting to watch. It would be worth taking this out of the set.

Get with the times!

Awful! I only got to watch 5 minutes of this show and was disgusted with it. My 4 year old watching puppets trying to hang one another using a noose is so wrong. Let’s “hang them out to dry” it jokes. I appreciate its an old seaside tradition but joking about hanging is just not funny and not appropriate any more. Get some new material!

Real Punch and Judy, or at least it would be if the Council were not so stupid!
Aug 2020
We are a bit old for Punch and Judy now, but its always nice to see and can bring back so many memories from our childhood. Such a shame that the local council are so worried about getting taken to court for some breach of health and safety that they wont let Jason, the current Professor, entertain the children....wimps! Or maybe its because they are afraid some right on politicly correct leftie files a complaint about the noise or violence, who knows, but those council members need to get a life and wake up to the fact that entertainment like this keeps both children and adults happy, brings people into Llandudno and keep one man in business as well. I note that although they wont let Jason entertain the kids, they are still happy to accept the rent he pays for the pitch!

Go and see this amazing theatrical relic of the past before the “offended on behalf of others” gang get it banned.

Fabulous bit of history
Aug 2019 • Family
We love the Punch and Judy show and my son will watch it for the 3/4 days of our visits to Llandudno.
The puppeteer is fab and very friendly when you talk to him. There is a shop as well that sells magnets, pencils etc as well as replicas of the puppets.
It’s a traditional Punch and Judy show so, if you’re raising your child to be a snowflake then don’t watch it (also avoid ALL Disney films as they are also quite traumatic for snowflake parents)
The show is 30 mins which is just long enough and there is lots of audience participation. The show is free but relies on donations to continue. A couple of pounds for 30 mins piece and quite is very cheap.
