- Katherine MEastbourne, United Kingdom3 contributionsA wonderful experience! We brought a group of Saudi Arabian students to see the pantomime as a British cultural experience and they were all completely absorbed. As usual. Eastbourne’s pantomime is the best! Colourful, lively, hilarious and at times poignant, with great songs, amazing patter between Dotty and Potty Pierre, wonderful special effects and a nail biting moment when Potty was suspended from the backdrop! Thank you to everyone for such a stunning performance!Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 29, 2023

- Alison VUckfield, United Kingdom2 contributionsGreat show -made me laughWent to see Hound of the baskervilles tonight. Great show and I laughed til I cried in parts -well done to the cast (and behind the scenes etc staff) for a great performance. Theatre itself is very old, so v quaint. Old loos with the high Cistern - haven’t seen any for ages -v clean. 6 disabled parking spaces to the front with a ramp for disabled access. Some other parking nearby. We found the entrance a bit difficult to find at first. Staff super helpfulVisited August 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten August 9, 2024

Booked this morning for the panto in the afternoon, so seats near the back, this still had a very good view - the slope of the stage is perfect.
The pantos here are always good and this year was no exception. In fact it was the best yet, what an amazing cast, not a big cast but it didn't feel that way.
The humour was non stop, the songs popular and a good variety. Singing was good, especially Prince Valient - and makes a change having a male play the male ! much prefer it that way.
The scenes included the usual palace etc but also a funny baking scene, a bouncy castle the size of the stage, and so much more.
I laughed and sang, and laughed some more.

This theatre has no idea how to deal with disabled people. After being told I could not sit in the disabled space because I only have a walking stick and mobility scooter and not an actual wheelchair. I wrote a letter as I knew it was discrimination my needs were then accommodated. I was told
that I couldn't come in with a mobility scooter however I turn up on the night only to be sitting next to someone in a scooter. My experience of their disabled equality is poor.

Fabulous show in the impressive and inspiring setting of a traditional theatre. The show was such fun with clever special effects and audience participation....something for young teens and grandmas to laugh at.
Theatre staff were helpful, genuine theatre lovers and great with the easy access door for anyone unsteady on their feet.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this theatre for The Mirror Crack’d. Prior to the show we popped in to take a few pictures. A warm welcome was received. This depiction of Agatha Christie’s novel was cleverly presented by the actors. Thank you for a great evening out x

We enjoyed our first ever visit to the theatre to see "The Mirror Cracked" - a cleverly staged production with an excellent cast. The opulent decor of this intimate theatre is typical of so many of its period. Long may it thrive!

Found out about this theatre and others in town at the tourist office. We thought the show would be a fun way to spend our first night in town, and we were not disappointed. What a beautiful venue this is. Staff were great as well.

Just seen Around the World in 80 days. At the Devonshire Theatre. Lovely old Victorian theatre and great production. The cast did a wonderful job it was a really good evening. Shame the theatre wasn’t very busy but they didn’t let that dampen their enthusiastic performance. Well worth seeing and it’s only in until end August.

Hi Kathrynlls there doesn't appear to be much on at the Devonshire Park for the end of February. We have another theatre in town the Hippodrome which is good. Have you thought of ringing them to ask?
