    Best panto yet
Booked this morning for the panto in the afternoon, so seats near the back, this still had a very good view - the slope of the stage is perfect. The pantos here are always good and this year was no exception. In fact it was the best yet, what an amazing cast, not a big cast but it didn't feel that way. The humour was non stop, the songs popular and a good variety. Singing was good, especially Prince Valient - and makes a change having a male play the male ! much prefer it that way. The scenes included the usual palace etc but also a funny baking scene, a bouncy castle the size of the stage, and so much more. I laughed and sang, and laughed some more.

    Agatha Christie trip
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this theatre for The Mirror Crack’d. Prior to the show we popped in to take a few pictures. A warm welcome was received. This depiction of Agatha Christie’s novel was cleverly presented by the actors. Thank you for a great evening out x

We enjoyed our first ever visit to the theatre to see "The Mirror Cracked" - a cleverly staged production with an excellent cast. The opulent decor of this intimate theatre is typical of so many of its period. Long may it thrive!

Out of the two prominent theatres I’ve been to in Eastbourne, Devonshire park excels at stunning architectural design and smaller but more refined plays. The comedy always seems to hit the mark, and the actors really capture the theatrical spirit of convincing the audience that they’re having a good time too, not just the crowd. There’s even benefit to seeing the same show more than once, as the staff are professionals and do a great job ad-libbing and improvising to compound the humour. Don’t sleep on this theatre, it will give you an incredible night out.

The play was excellent, however the so called background music was too loud. Then, when the music was played for the introduction of each scene the musical intro was VERY uncomfortable and VERY LOUD. This is the first time we have ever experienced this level of discomfort at the Devonshire Park Theatre and we have been going there for over 40 years. We do not want to go home feeling like we had just been to a rock concert and it distracts from the overall experience.

I’ve seen many pantos at Eastbourne over an 18 year period and for me, the ‘baddy’ and the fairy made the panto this year. Strong singers from all principle characters which in other years some have felt A little weak in their singing and acting and of course Tucker and Martyn added the usual slapstick fun. I really wouldn’t see any other panto despite living out of the area it’s so worth coming back for.

Found out about this theatre and others in town at the tourist office. We thought the show would be a fun way to spend our first night in town, and we were not disappointed. What a beautiful venue this is. Staff were great as well.

Just seen Around the World in 80 days. At the Devonshire Theatre. Lovely old Victorian theatre and great production. The cast did a wonderful job it was a really good evening. Shame the theatre wasn’t very busy but they didn’t let that dampen their enthusiastic performance. Well worth seeing and it’s only in until end August.

Just been to see The Shawshank Redemption with Joe Absolom and Ben Onwukwe. The whole cast was outstanding and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The last scene was so emotional. I also got to meet them both before the show and they were so lovely and chatty and autographed my ticket for me! We are so lucky to have such a fantastic theatre in Eastbourne, it’s such a joy visiting. Can’t wait for my next visit.

Last nights opening of Wait Until Dark was the very worst performance we have ever watched. From the first to the last scene we subjected to amateur acting and weak lines. As fairly regular theatre goers, both in Eastbourne and London and Devonshire Park being such a lovely venue, this was most disappointing.

The Devonshire Park is a lovelly theatre. The best seats are the raised stalls at the back. You are far enough away yet close enough to see everything on the stage.

Horror Story - yes, but not chilling at all. This is the worst performance we have ever seen at a theatre. Direction was pathetic with a schoolboy script, and wooden acting.
Was this supposed to be a chilling drama? No way, but instead bordered on a poor black comedy.
The death scene at the end was farcical.
Turning the lights out was the sum of the chilling effect, and was anybody scared???
The only horror was the £24 ticket price.
