    Nicely refurbished
Hi. We visited today and we thought that everything looked amazing. The work that you have put into it is to be congratulated. The children’s play area will be a huge attraction for young families. Sadly, we were served almost cold coffee. A dry and tasteless cheese and tomato croissant ( we asked for it to be heated and it arrived cold) then homemade tomato soup which had a reasonable flavour but wasn’t even Luke warm. It cost £16 and we were very disappointed. (We also would have liked the food to arrive at the same time 😢). On a positive note the staff were lovely.

The cafe is disappointing, coffee and tea in take away cups, sandwich meal deal and muffin served without plates.
I have visited Sharnfold on numerous occasions but this will be my last. I stopped in today for coffee which was served in a paper cup as was my friends tea. The meal deal sandwich was possibly the worst sandwich and you’d be lucky to find a blueberry in the stale muffin. The tables and chairs were wet following rain and tables hadn’t been cleared, what has happened here. It’s clearly popular as the car park was packed, great for families but certainly doesn’t offer something for everyone as advertised.

A little over a year ago, this was a wonderful little cafe and farm shop. The staff were so helpful, friendly and would go out of their way to make sure you had a lovely experience. Fast forward to now and after a change of ownership, this has gone from a friendly, family run business to a cold, unprofessional environment which lacks any atmosphere. After extending the coffee shop and cramming so many tables in, we were shocked to see only 4 members of staff working on a busy weekend. The poor staff were run off their feet, tables were piled with dirty plates and cups with no one to clear them and the queue was so long, with the wait for food even longer. It was clear the new owners are cutting costs and it is the cafe staff that are paying the price for this. Going into the shop we were very surprised to see shop staff standing around talking including the shop manager! Couldn't have they helped out in the cafe if they had nothing to do?!

Going for a walk around outside, the whole place looks run down and shabby. Very concerned about the conditions the animals are kept in. The chickens especially look sick and unhealthy.

Coming back was such disappointment. After seeing this little business grow and thrive under the care and love of the former owners, it is so sad to see what it has become. Unfortunately the pure greed of the new owners means this place is now a shadow of its former self. Seeing that the new owners are planning to build houses in the site just emphasises this. This would have been such an amazing opportunity for someone to take over this lovely place and put as much love and hard work in to it as the former owners, but instead they are cutting corners and milking it for everything they can.

I'm a local and have been coming to Sharnfold many times over the years, for breakfast, the butcher and the shop, as well as fruit picking. Since the new owners took over, it has really gone downhill (see other posts). There is now a charge for children to see the few sad-looking animals they have left. HOWEVER - the worst thing is that the owners have applied for planning permission for 400 homes on land adjacent to the farm, which is upsetting everyone. They have lost an awful lot of local support and custom.

Do not waste your time going here with small children. We paid £1.50 each to walk round the trail to see the farm animals, but all we saw was empty paddocks, a couple of skinny cows, a few pigs fast asleep in their arks in an awful paddock with nothing for them to do, not even a wallow, the conditions the animals are kept in is awful. There is a large barn, with chickens, ducks and geese in, no water for the ducks to paddle in, no perches for the chickens, nothing for them to do, they looked so miserable. The barn where you pay £4 to feed the lambs was so untidy, feed bags just thrown all over the place, rubbish everywhere. The pig pens hadn't been cleaned, lots of poo, goats pen had poo piled up at the front of the pen. Eggs all over the floor in chicken pen near play area, which suggests that noone had been into them that morning, couldn't see any water for them to drink. The animals in my opinion are not being looked after properly and are kept in poor conditions. No soap or paper towels in the hand washing area. The shop is overpriced and the cake in the cafe was very dry and disappointing. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

We visited Sharnfold about 8-10 years ago and loved the little site with farm shop and cafe so was quite happy to book again. What a disappointment, it doesn’t look like they’ve done anything to the site since we last visited. The field was unmown and badly rutted, the water tap and chemical toilet emptying point are still the same but in the water tap side on the fence panel was sheep fleece and in the corner was dried sheep droppings so they’ve obviously had livestock in the field at some point which is not a problem but it really needs to be cleaned afterwards. A definite lack of maintenance. The noise from the bypass is loud but this didn’t really bother us. The farm shop is expensive. We won’t be returning to this site which is a shame because with a little TLC it could be great.

Wow!!!

Firstly the Butchers & Farm shop are definitely open for business and wow what a selection of goodies inside.

Friendly warm welcome from the two members of staff inside, very helpful and informative on the colourful fresh local produce available.
From fruit to vegetables, ciders, ales, juices to meats and meals.

I brought 3 of every sausage -18 in total lol as I simply couldn’t decide between the scrumptious offerings and once you dive into the freezer along side you’ll flavoursome collection of burgers, sausage meat and flavoured chicken.
Of course I also went for 2 packs of burgers Stilton and honey glaze! Yum!

Some cheeky gingerbread bunny treats and my old faithful celeriac, I walked out a very happy lady.... WHY because I was shocked literally blown away by the INCREDIBLE value for money!!

If you haven’t already you really must give them a visit.

Cannot wait to tuck into these goodies!

We spent the day at Sharnfold Farm with our two young grandsons and what a treat it was. The animals were a huge favourite - goats, sheep, alpacas and piglets who were very friendly. They loved the woodland farm trail with fun exercise boards and hidden playhouses. Then it was on to the play area with a real tractor and little trike driving area. We didn’t have time to explore the large sandpit, sunflower walk, pick your own or wildlife garden as there was so much to see and do. After all that fun they enjoyed a big bowl of spaghetti bolognese from the very reasonably priced cafe. We will definitely return - highly recommended for a wonderful day out.

The demise of Sharnfold is quite impressive in just over a year. A dirty soulless, overpriced place to visit. The butchers has gotten very pricy and attracts many flies, very hygienic. The shop has lost its magic, all the prices have increased and the stock looks as fed up as the staff. The cafe is just awful. Now they want to charge entry to see a few animals. Pure greed and thats on top of the planning permission they are seeking for 200+ homes. Don’t waste your money, this is not the Sharnfold of old. Quite upsetting to see whats happened, and will no longer spend my money or time there.

Have been going to this place for many years, but called in last week and was shocked.
The restaurant area used to be a cosy area with reasonably priced food and meals.
Since our previous visit they have now completely changed the whole layout of both the restaurant and the shop.
The restaurant is now a huge open sterile area with no atmosphere whatsoever.
The prices reflect this as they obviously want to recoup their outlay.
One instance is in the price of their scones.
We used to love the taste of their various savory and fruit scones and always bought a good selection to take away with us. They did cost 75p each, now they are £2.10p EACH.
No way we're we going to pay that so we left without buying anything and will definitely not be going back.
We told our friends who also go there and they were of the same opinion.
Just greed.

If I could leave no stars I would, after years of visiting Sharnford farm with my children and having such lovely times, me and my mum decided to go and try it again for a late afternoon snack and coffee in the sun. What a shame, customer service was absolutely horrific, rude unhelpful staff who more interested in cleaning up to go home than answering my questions about which menu I should be looking at, they told us they were closing at 4 ( we arrived at 3.25) that wasn't a problem, told to sit down and they would come and take our order.... 3.55 and still no order taken! Awful awful i would never go back. Plus I should add that the food looked horrific so just as well we were only going to have a cake and coffee!

I find it very sad to see the change in Sharnfold. We have been going for years and have even had two birthday parties there. However, they now charge an extortionate price to simply pick fruit - when you pay a premium price for PYO anyway. I have always been very keen to support local business but the enforced entrance fee regardless of the nature of your visit will prevent us from ever returning.
