A Railway Adventure in Eastbourne. Travel behind the famous one-eighth scale miniature locomotives as they meander for nearly a mile around the beautiful country park. Enjoy a pleasant stroll around the five-acre lake where nature and wildlife may be seen in their natural habitats. Relax in the prize-winning tea gardens with a beverage, lunch or Cream Tea from the railway style cafe. Picnic areas, model railways and the Railway Gift Shop. Immaculate miniature railway with children’s play areas

Myself and a friend visited on a steam service (pre-booked tickets) weekday in August.

We had a wonderful trip on the one mile circular line pulled by a steam locomotive. The line travels around a lake and includes a tunnel and suspension bridge. Helpful and enthusiastic staff. Clean and well-maintained steam & diesel locos, carriages and premises. Nature walk. Maze. Children’s play areas. Well-stocked shop. Cafe. Toilets. Large, free car park.

My friend and myself went with 3 children under 12 . On arrival we were checked in as booking is required at present. On paying I immediately spotted a member of staff cleaning the exit buttons,barriers etc which immediately reassured me as this was the first time we had been for a day out since covid 19.
It was a really enjoyable day, after our picnic the kids used the play equipment and a member of staff regularly cleaned the swings and slides and there was a hand washing station with signs encouraging constant hand washing routines. All the way round there are hand gel dispensers and constant reminders to social dsrtance. When we went on the train all social groups are separated by a 2 metre distance and before you get on the seats of the trains were cleansed. Overall I would highly recommended a day out here and have written this to reassure others who may also be anxious ,like I was in this current climate.

Fabulous day out for wee ones

This place is just lovely. Perfect for little ones. Several play areas which are all immaculately maintained, a maze, a nature walk, model trains and of course the bigger ride on train. Cafe is reasonably priced and the toilets are clean (in fact the whole place is spotless). It never feels busy either. Some people have marked this place down for the new pricing structure, and it is more expensive than it was in the past. However, it’s comparable in cost to Paradise Park, and cheaper than Knockhatch and Drusillas (nowhere near as big as those two, but still a whole day out for under 7s).

Great place but poor value

Great place, terrible new pricing structure. Went with my 4 year old daughter, partner and parents and total cost almost £50 for entry and a single train journey!
Just a 50p difference between adults and senior citizens and those aged 4 and over with no discount for the disabled.
Previously was cheaper for unlimited train journeys. Will definitely never be returning!

Wonderful find

Walked here from Eastbourne; what a lovely place! All the staff were lovely. When the heavy rain shower stopped, ladies from the ticket office and cafe came and wiped down the children's play equipment to dry it - so thoughtful of them. Miniature steam train ride was fun and went right around the lake. Interesting history; built by the family. Clean and very reasonable prices. Great place to spend a few hours. We must have been the only adults there unaccompanied by children!

Lovely day out!

Day out with our three year old son. We loved it. He was thrilled to see Thomas and loved the other railway models. The park was great and so was the garden and maze. No queues for the train ride which was also lots of fun. We ordered food which was reasonably priced. Only criticism would be the cost for children as it was only 50p cheaper than an adult. As there were 4 of us we ended up with a family ticket.We would happily return as we all had a great day.

Fantastic day out, can't fault it

Lovely few hours exploring the area around the lake, the large playground and of course ride on the miniature railway.
Will visit again if in area.
P.s. expected weekend during school holidays to be packed, but there was plenty of room on this sunny day :)

Outstanding! Truly fantastic! This is a great experience for big kids, sissy kids, kids who climb on rocks. Top notch staff, trains and the train is fantastic. A-shame not all the robotic display trains were out of order but still top notch and we will be bringing in laws, friends and anyone who will listen to us to visit next.

Best family annual pass you can buy!!!

We love coming here as a family. Children are 2, 4 & 6 and all love it.
One of the few places to allow picnics as well, which is perfect for us as we have allergies, and try to keep our costs low. The cafe does have quite a lot of options though, and caters for most needs.

We go several times a week when it's open. The train rides are always are a highlight, and the children love spending their 20ps on the little trains and ride ons. The separate park for pre-school children also really helps at weekends/holidays.

Great young family day out

This is just such a lovely place for young children. Great parks, one for toddlers and one for older children, lovely train ride around the lake. A few miniature railways set up you can make go round for 20p. All food and ice cream is very reasonably priced. Lots of wooden play houses which my daughter loved. It's a nice simple family day out.
