We met at St Mary's Church in Rhossili for a walk to look at ancient hill forts. Daria, our guide, outlined the walk of approximately 5 miles. A short walk to the top of a hill and we had an awe inspiring view of the bay and the hill fort sites we would visit. The walk took us along the cliff tops to each site in turn where we learnt more about the construction and history. Because it was such a nice day we took a detour down to beautiful deserted bay, where we stopped for a bite to eat. Like all good walks we ended up at the pub for a well earned drink. I highly recommend this walk but be prepared. We ended up walking about 7 miles, so good shoes or boots are important. Don't forget your camera, something to eat and drink and just in case a waterproof jacket. Well it is Wales!

We walked around the Rhossili areal on the Gower. Our walk was especially structured for us, our preferred areas of interest were discussed previously and Daria was able to lead us to so many points of interest. Her passion for the subject and the area enabled us to thoroughly enjoy the facts, figures and views. Her enthusiasm and knowledge meant we were able appreciate and understand the details of the landscapes far more than if we had been walking on our own. It was a thoroughly enjoyable few hours that left us wanting to learn even more. The walked ended on a high note by sharing a bottle of "real ale" that Daria produced from her ruck-sack !
