Definitely worth a visit, a modern museum, very well thought and organised. The terrain around also perfect for a stroll and reflection over the history of this unique region.

"Kystmuseet" i both a museum reflecting the ancient times of the coast in Norway and especially Sogn and Fjordane and Flora, but also it reflects how our history made the petroleum and oil industry to be part of our modern life.

A visit to the coastal museum gives a good understanding of the contrast between living at in a coastal place in earlier days and today. The museum had a good collection of items illustrating life in a Norwegian town in earlier times. Getting there we had a good walk from Krokane camping and to the Coastal museum. For those enjoying a walk the museum is within reach from most of Florø town. The outside surroundings is well worth some time if the weather permits. The staff was very friendly and gave us an interesting guided tour of the platform model, showing a lot of geological and technical displays which was particularly interesting for our youngest family member. A platform evacuation simulation that we could try to get through (in darkness if you dare) was a bit scary ;-)
