The planning took us 3 years. Stephan and me (both 66 Y.) finally started the kayak trip with Jon as our guide in July 2023!
We were paddling in a double kayak, took all with us as tent, sleeping bags, mats, cloth, cooking stuff, water etc., all in all for 6 days.
It was already the third try, because 2 years before I went ill, same last year.
In fear of getting ill again I was prepared to stop it, if it shouldn’t work again.

Then when we were on the tour, we had a great time on the fjords with wind and waves and delicious meals in nature, because Jon is an excellent cook. We saw boots passing, paddled along fish farms and overwhelming mountains. Our campsites were islands with nobody on there and farms above the fjords with rich cherry trees, blueberries and raspberries, like a paradise. We paddled with joy and fear, Jon was a trustful partner as a guide and I learned to overcome my fears of big waves, distances, wind, tide and the huge cruise liner boots. He accompanied us with calm and serenity. For me, someone who works sitting down all day it was the best thing I could do in the last years. We finished it in only 5 days and it was a great feeling to reach Geiranger ! I felt like new born and was glad that we made it! To be back on work everything went easy.
Thank you, Jon, for your patience.

During a cruise to Norway my husband and I wanted to explore Geirangerfjorden by kayak but didn’t want to be in one of the big groups often associated with the kayaking excursions offered by the cruise line, so we decided to book a private tour with Kayak More Tomorrow. As we were only going to be in Geiranger for one day we wanted to see as much as possible. KMT were happy to provide us with a customised itinerary which allowed us to visit two hilltop farms.

As soon as our ship docked (7:30am) our guide for the day, Matt, was there to greet us, get us kitted out with life jackets etc. he then helped us into the kayak and got us out on the water. Neither of us had been kayaking before but after only a few minutes of instruction from Matt we found the double-kayak easy to handle and incredibly stable. We quickly discovered that a kayak has to be the best possible mode of transport from which to experience the fjord, glass-like water with breathtakingly beautiful views.

After a paddle down to the Seven Sisters waterfall we tied up our kayaks at the base of the fjord and climbed 250 meters (about 45 minutes) to the Knivsfla farm situated on the side of the fjord. Following a short break at the top for a quick snack and some photos it was time to get back into the kayaks and paddle across the fjord to climb another 250 meters up a slightly easier path to Skagefla situated opposite the Seven Sisters where the three of us had a tasty lunch provided by KMT and relaxed before heading back to the kayaks for the paddle back.

Needless to say the views from the farms are stunning and although the climbs were probably one of the most strenuous things we’ve ever done, it was totally worth it to experience this unique, unspoilt landscape. We arrived back at the dock (3:30pm) in good time for the ship’s departure, so this is a brilliant way to ensure you maximise your time in Geiranger.

All this was made even better by our ozzy guide Matt who has a great sense of humour, the patience of a saint and what can only be described as a superhuman ability to climb steep paths while fully-loaded with kit! Thank you Matt (and KMT) for an amazing experience.

We were only in Alesund for a day, and wanted to see as much as possible. After climbing up to the viewpoint in the morning, we were exploring the town and passed the Kayak More Tomorrow shop. Popping in on a whim, we hired a kayak, and had a fabulous time paddling around the island. The views were fabulous, and getting up close to the prow of a large cruise ship in the harbour was quite an experience!

The man in charge of the shop was very friendly, answered all our questions, and seemed to really care that we had a good time. Highly recommended!

We wanted to rent two single kayaks for 5 days this summer and asked if there was availability, what the price would be and if they had discounts if you rent over several days. The response I got back was the rudest and most offensive email I have ever received - they said that they "were not interested in having cheap scandinavians as clients" and didn't even check if they had availability.

This type of service is below anything I have seen and I strongly urge you to try and find another more decent place to rent your kayaks on.

We are standing up to internett bullying, We will not be bullied into having you as a client by fearing your threats of a bad review on the net. We would rather receive a 1 star review from you a non-client then be bullied into having you as a client. I will be addressing internet bullying in our blog - Straight Talk with KMT check it out. And lastly to everyone in the industry don't be afraid of internett bullies like Johan. He will never be client of KMT.

We communicated with KMT by email ahead of our trip. They were responsive and very helpful. We arrived on the NCL Jade for the day. KMT was waiting for us exactly where they said they’d be at the time they said. From the moment they picked us up until the end of the tour, we loved every moment. We were a group of 7 which included a 6 and 8 year old. KMT had all the supplies we needed - no matter how big or small, they thought of everything. They were caring and made sure we had an amazing experience. I highly recommend them. Our guide Max was fantastic and patient.

We had a great full day out last week with Max as our guide. There were a party of 6 of us and the trip was run just for us. Despite quite a lot of information e-mailed to us before the trip I still didn't feel entirely sure exactly what was going to happen on our trip! In the event we were met off our cruise ship and driven about 15 minutes to a small beach area just outside of the town. There we got into the kayaks. None of us had really kayaked before! All equipment was provided, I wore trainers and waterproof jacket, feet did not get wet! We needed to take all we wanted for the day with us in the kayak, as we were heading to the base of the trail, walking from there and then kayaking back. There are waterproof compartments on the kayak and here i stored my walking boots and a couple of spare layers, and a towel, which was good to have. Max reliably informed us that the kayaks are very stable and no-one ever tipped over. We kayaked for about 1.5 hours in the fjord to the base of the trail, it was quite pretty, but we could see the town and the cruise ship most of the time, it was not really a 'wilderness' experience! We pulled the kayaks onto the shore and Max produced a lovely sandwich lunch with coffee and chocolate. We then walked up to Sugar Hill Summit. Again not really away from it all...obviously a very popular local walk, but absolutely great views from the top and well worth it. You then come back along the same path. At the top Max came up trumps again with a hot fruit tea and biscuits, he was very well organised with tissues, wipes etc. The beginning of the trail would be hard to find without local knowledge as is hidden in a small housing estate. We kayaked back much the same way as we had come. I'm not sure when the trip is referred to as Art Nouveau?, as we did not pass through the buildings of the town at all. We had a thoroughly enjoyable day. The whole trip took over 6 hours, we were quite tired but managed fine, considering not really kayaked before arms were ok the next day! Expensive ( everything in Norway is...) but I would recommend.

We had a wonderful time kayaking with Julia. We had a pleasant walk from the cruise ship for half an hour to where Geirangerfjordservice was - a delightful little caravan! Despite my husband and I being complete novices and our two teenage boys being advanced, Julia managed to keep everyone happy. A father and son kept deliberately dropping behind to hold everyone up as later it was obvious they could kayak perfectly well but Julia even handled this well, despite us not being able to kayak past the Seven Sisters waterfall because of the now lack of time. Julia told us some very interesting facts about Norway and the area and it was the best two hours of our whole holiday. We would certainly love to do it again. It was also very reasonably priced - about half the price of the extortionate cruise excursions on offer from Holland America Line.

We visited Alesund on a cruise and really wanted to try kayaking. They are so professional and did a great job dealing with safety and instruction. The tour leader was a fellow Canadian!!

The experience here has sparked our interest in Kayaking more.

While planning our recent Disney cruise to Norway we needed a tour on which we could include our active grandsons who are aged 7 & 9. Disney required them to be 12 for their shore excursions which were quite pricey anyway. We found KMT based in Alesund and couldn't have been happier with our trip. Zoe and Abel were expert guides who were extremely patient with the kids as well as adults. Although in my 60s, I had never kayaked before but had an excellent experience. We chose the farm tour which included hiking up a fjord to an old farm. It was challenging, but we had hiked to Pulpit Rock in Stavangar 2 days before and this was not as difficult as that. KMT doesn't have a storefront in Geiranger, but the village is small so we didn't have any trouble finding them along the shore. Their yellow kayaks are easy to spot. It all took longer than we thought, but had no trouble making it back to the ship with time to spare. We couldn't have been happier with this experience. Read denise1609's review for more detail; our experience was similar with different guides and only the first farm.

We had an excellent time with Jonathan and Zoe and 2 others with our rather large group (about 30) in double canoes. They were all helpful with instructions and expectations. The weather was perfect and we had a fabulous experience. I would recommend this activity for any adventurous souls. The view along the coast was beautiful and the guides were knowledgeable about the town.

Thank you very much for your 5 star review. We are glad we were able to make your kayaking trip a memorable one and all the guides will be thrilled that you thanked them. We offer many types of trips here at KMT Aalesund with your particular trip catering for the cruise ship hence the larger numbers of people on the water. We have much more intimate tours accommodating just a few people at a time which allows our guests to experience Aalesund on a more personal level. If you are ever in this part of the world again we would love to welcome you and share and show you even more of this beautiful part of Norway. Thanks again and happy paddling from all the team at KMT.
