I stumbled upon the church while I was looking for the Art Nouveau museum. Unfortunately for me it was closed but I was able to photograph the church from the outside.

The visit to the church is hosted by a knowledgable docent who is a member of the congregation and is able to share the meaningful history of the church and explain the religious significance of the altarpiece, frescoes, the stained glass windows, crucifix, and presbytery...More

There is a charge of 30 Kr (about £3) to enter the church and we were not disappointed. It has amazing stained glass, a fabulous organ - the largest in Norway and another organ on the balcony. The alter area is heavily ornate and just...More

Entrance fee is required. You are welcome to take pictures in this church unlike some in Norway. It is interesting inside and immediately adjacent to it is a cemeto that you can stroll through.

This Norwegian cathedral is awe inspiring. When I visited there was a violinist practicing with the organist. Tourists walked in and just sat and listened and rested from life's hectic busyness. The stained glass windows given by the German Kaiser are gorgeous. The lights hanging...More

The church is beautiful inside and out with its unusual short, square tower. Look at how they use the space inside, I won’t tell you, go and find out. Also, look for the ship. Like all Norwegian churches there will be a ship somewhere, usually...More
