Review of: Viking Themed Walking Tour in Ålesund
We were a group of around 20 of differing ages (16-75), and differing interests* in history. Due to our arrival in port not fitting to the usual tour times, a separate tour was added to their schedule. Good communication through e-mail. The content of the tour was informative and amusing. Good camaraderie between the two guys who told the Viking story. Highly recommend. *Those in the group who beforehand were ‘not really interested but will join anyway’ enjoyed the whole tour and reflected they were pleased they did it.…

I thoroughly enjoyed my morning learning about the history of Norwegian Vikings. The mead was yummy! And the Dragon boat was authentic and our host was very genuine. Thanks so much!

Still waiting for the refund promised by guide, no Viking boat just small English trader boat only 20 feet long, not 60 odd feet, that leaked so couldn't board, if they had informed us of this, as I only booked 3 days before it would have saved a lot of trouble as it wasted the morning. They should suspend trips until the advertised ship is back in service. The guide tried hard in a difficult situation. I have photos but I think they wouldn't show them in a good light.…

Hi. Sorry for your wasted time. We have made the refund as promised, but it may take a few days since card payments goes through secure connections out of our control. (Ticket system/ booking system and banks). This is new to us so I will take a call to support and check if it is possible to get a hint of the timeline for this prosess. In terms of the boat we also prefer our own Bjarka, and had actually closed most trips for the last three weeks of the season except from days where we did not have contact info or guests who wanted tour anyways. As a subtitute we rented, as you mention, a traditional boat (1850) built with same techniques and tools known as a Sunnmørsboat used for fishing and local trading. This craft was exported with Vikings and is still known as a traditional boat many places also in UK. Our product is educational storytelling with props and a part of that is boat construction, navigation and survival in long voyages at sea. This is why we use a boat and prefer the bigger vessel so guest may sit during presentation. Post season I will have a consulting team look into our product description to be sure that it is clear what you may expect. "See a Viking Ship, Taste Viking Food, Hear Viking stories."

We really enjoyed our tour. We happened to be the tour the day after the original Viking boat sank and many staff members were up very late working hard to secure another boat. This meant that we only had one staff member guiding us rather than the usual two. That said, the member we had (I apolgize for not remembering the name) was very personable, and very knowledgable. We could tell he really valued his heritage. I would recommend this as an interesting tour to anyone who wants to learn more about Vikings.…
