We started of from Tromsø in the morning at 09:00. Weather was cloudy with a little wind.
The crew welcomed us onboard and we got good seats inside the big catamaran.
The boat has a kiosk with coffie, snacks and light food.
On our way out to Skjervøy there was a guide telling us about the whales and their travelling routes. He was a marine biologist and very knowledgeable.
When we arrived outside Skjervøy the sky had cleared and we got great conditions for looking for whales.
It took us 30 seconds before we spotted the first group of orcas/ killerwhales. The captain and his crew took us between different groups of whales in a good maner. We saw Finnwhales, Orcas and Humpback whale.
The whales came up alongside the boat and we got a great look at these big creatures!
We highly recommend this trip if you want a comfortable trip to see the whales with a knowledgeable crew. 👍

Lovely visit, but there's a bit of a scam running with the 5-day Fjord cards:

My partner and I boarded one of of this companies boats and purchased 2 5-day Fjordcards. At the time, the price of the pass was 1250 NOK (this was in 2019, they now cost 1500) and so we expected to pay 2500 NOK for two tickets. Instead, however, we were charged 2700 NOK. When I asked, The crew member performing the sale informed me that there was a 100 NOK deposit on each of the cards themselves —and that upon return of the cards to the main office, the extra 200NOK amount would be returned.

We then enjoyed the next 4 days in Sognefjord. When we returned to Bergen, however, we went to the office to return the cards and were told that there is no deposit —the cards were simply to be thrown away after use, and we had been overcharged by 200 NOK. They told us to email them our receipts once we got home (which we did).

We still have the cards (and the credit card statements proving that we were overcharged) and have written many emails that have not led to any resolution or refund. It's been a couple years now, and clearly we're never going to be refunded for this "deposit".

We still had a great experience, and in principle I wouldn't have minded paying 2700 NOK, but I would like others to be aware of this because it doesn't seem entirely honest.

Currently the advertised price is 1500 NOK, but you should be aware that you will be charged an additional "Deposit" price for the cards, and even if you return them, that deposit will NOT be refunded, so the actual price is higher than advertised. Still worth it, but the prices should be advertised more honestly.

Really great whale watching trip last Sunday! Very nice boat, lots of space and food and drinks available on board. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide and whale researcher who's passion for her scientific work and the whales clearly shone through and enthused everyone on board. Beautiful scenery in the fjords and got to see killer whales and humpback whales, with plenty of time to take photos. Would definitely recommend!

So these guys are apparently new to the Whale Watching tour game... Could have fooled us. The boat was super comfortable, very stable in the water and super speedy overtaking most other watching boats on the way out. Emma the Tour Guide was super informative and answered the many questions people had along with a great presentation. The crew also fantastic, told we were heading home, almost had all our extra layers off and told we were stopping again in 5mins for one last watch - Dedicated to giving the best experience! What a fantastic trip! Would very much recommend!

A few teething problems with lagging on the video clips but that'll be ironed out I'm sure!

One thing to warn you though... I now have the best part of a 1000 photos of Orcas and Humpbacks to go through! 😃

We took the 0800 cruise from Bergen to Flam in July 2021.
Our group of 9 enjoyed the 5.5 hours of time.

The captain slows down the ferry when the scenic points come and also gives us guidance and importance of locations.
The ferry itself was very clean, nice kiosk/ cafe area where you can get some hot drinks and some food. Nice toilets.

Good views from the front and back of the ferry. There is also option to charge your devices next the seats on both sides of the ferry.

An amazing whale watching cruise in Tromsø. Our guide was a very knowledgeable biologian-photographer, who told us about the whales (humpback whales and orcas mostly), and on our 6,5 hour cruise we were very fortunate to see the whales feeding. We watched the whales from a far, trying not to disturb the whales. Can recommend for anyone animal- and nature-lover like me, ethical tourism. Not everyone in the place appreciated the whales and their peace. Tusen takk!!!!

Direct Ferries is a SCAM do not book.

Book directly on the Norled webpage.

We are travelling to Norway and tried to book a ferry from Flam to Bergen on the direct ferries website. We chose the dates and paid for the tickets. We then booked accomodation in Flam and the train from Oslo to Flam.

Then we received an email from direct Ferries saying the tickets were unavailable.

Now we are trying to cancel everything else.

Read the other direct ferries reviews.

Whale-watching north of Tromso. Very good backing during the trip and very flexible and successful in detecting Orcas and Humpback whales. Passing other ships with a new, comfortable and esp. fast boat. Highly recommended.

Wonderful ride… This is cheaper than the so-called cruises, and does the same job. A good view to see the fjords around Bergen is to travel from Bergen to Flam Village via Norled service, then take the Flan railway to Myrdal and then take the train to Oslo from Myrdal..
The boat was clean, comfortable, and we saw some marvelous views and villages. It felt like we were locals rather than tourists. I strongly recommend this service

So glad we booked this whale cruise. I believe it’s a fairly new cruise compared to others in Tromso but definitely recommend. Lovely and clean catamaran and all really well organised, not overcrowded like the other boats looked. There was a marine biologist on the boat who was very knowledgeable. The scenery getting to the feeding grounds was amazing and we were so pleased to see a large group of humpback whales. It was amazing, all really interesting and it very respectful of the whales too. Best day of our holiday so far and would 100% do it again with this company.
