My wife and I took a little leisurely trip down this street to discover a side of Bergen that was like hidden treasure away from the usual shop chains and busier popular parts of the centre of town . The street is a bit narrow and has a wealth of shops selling paintings , 2 known historic churches and trendy clothing shops . One was British and was like stepping suddenly into London with some " mod " fashions , Hairdressers , Indian restaurants . But all had a marked personal style and the street had charm . High point for me was a shop called The Guitarmakers . A small shop where I just stood outside and soaked in 10 seconds of watching a talented craftsman at work . It was a missed photo-opportunity , but I have the impression on memory . Quietness, originality ,personality and good bargains on clothes all in one street . Worth a visit even if its raining

King Oscars Gate will take you right into the Bryggen historic section. The Bergen Cathedral is also on the street. If you are looking to walk out of town to Ulriken, follow this street out toward that direction.
