This gallery is in a fantastic setting in Bergen. The exhibition featured abstract and figurative ceramic sculptures, paintings, watercolors, and collages which partly explored themes of war, displacement and memories of a childhood in Damascus. Really interesting.

The current displaying work is interesting and appealing. Ive asked the receptionist about the place, they are not part of the KODE museums, but stands alone as a private art gallery. Still it is equiped with a modern cafe wich is a night club/conferance hall in the evening.

When I went to the Kunsthall they had several rooms of repetitive conceptual art by Mari Slaatelid, and a retrospective on lesbian icon and dance critic Jill Johnston. They had good descriptive information on both exhibits. Certainly worth checking out - it is a nice empty space that can easily adapt to any sort of art forms they bring in,

I have to say this visit to the Kunsthall was waste of time with nothing memorable to remember. No art, no appealing aesthetic creations, not even a provocative piece of work. All we saw was a documentary about an art student that attempts to change the world by doing NOTHING (well, to be fair she actually sat a park for hours and hours every day doing.... You guessed it, nothing). Unfortunately this museum visit left us with exactly just that... NOTHING. I love contemporary art and was looking forward to this visit, but this exhibit was an utter disappointment. This is the kind of exhibit that gives contemporary art a bad name.

It was pretty much a floor and a half and I did not enjoy it all. Did not enjoy this much and went through everything in about 15 minutes.

Great exhibition and book shop in a great gallery in a great location with very friendly staff! Very good value too. Watch out in the bookshop - we found it hard to leave without buying a book (or five)!

Firstly from looking at other reviews your visit will depend on what’s showing.

My visit was hit and miss, one exhibit (the smaller of the 2) that I really enjoyed and second that was ok but didn’t do too much for me

This gallery is small but that shouldn’t put you off (50KNR entry is ok + gives you discounted price at KODE).

I enjoyed the space, the larger gallery area spanning three rooms if it had something that clicked with me would have been a good experience. There was a video installation playing in one of the rooms, again well positioned and good effect just the type of film wasn’t my cup of tea

Cafe space looked nice & was busy but I didn’t stop for anything there.

Overall I enjoyed the gallery, & on balance a bit more than the three KODE galleries that I visited later
