    A must do in Bergen
A must do in Bergen. Great views. Not so great for food. There’s one restaurant on the top so obviously on the expensive side. But the experience of going up by cable car and the breathtaking views are all a must do. There’s also a thrilling zip line activity for the daredevils! We did both, Ulriken and Floyen. If you have to do one or the other I would choose this mountain top.

    Great views
Spectacular views! I walked the stairs up and took the gondola down. It was nice to have a coffee with some great views at the top. If you're planning to take a hike at the top, I'd suggest sturdy hiking shoes!

    Awesome view
I think it is a must see for Bergen. The view for whole city is awesome. The ticket is quite expensive but for those who cannot beat tousands od stairs to reach the top I think it is worth it.

    A different view
A nice way to see a different view of Bergen. The express bus from the city centre is a good option drops you off right at the bottom of the gondola. The team selling tickets are friendly and helpful. Trip up is about 5 minutes for good views (on a clear day!) Nice cafe and restaurant at the top and a variety of walking trails.

the views from the top was simply amzing.
the views from the top was simply amzing. We took the bus from bergen city centre to reach here.. It was quite difficult to locate it as it was 15 to 20mins walking from the bus stop. Once you reach the top, you will not regret and according to me, this was better than the funicular ( in bergen)

Fantastic views of Bergen and beyond!
Wow! Mountain Ulriken is Bergen’s highest mountain and the cable car ride only took 5 minutes. We had fantastic views. We had lunch at the cafe and enjoyed watching the sheep from the backside of the platform. We purchased combination tickets which included transportation on the Ulriken Express Bus. You will find a bus parked in front of Norli Bookstore, Strandgaten 1.

    Fun gondola for fantastic view
Best and easiest way to get up to gondola for us non-hikers is to get the combo ticket for the bus and gondola at the corner up from the visitor center. Pay the fee with a card and off you go. A bit breezy and overcast today, but scenery just lovely.

    Just fantastic
Absolutely a must try and see expirience! The Good expirience and The extremely good service starts allready downtown where you take the specific Mount Ulriken shuttlebus. The information and guidance given by the cozy man is absolut in its own league! Then the cablecart tour to the top is fantastic. When you reach the top, please give your self the lamb sausage from the cafe - it is amazing!

    Loved it!
It was an amazing experience. Kind and helpful service starts downtown where you take the express bus to get to the bottom of Urliken mountain. The staff is happy to advise the routes to take climbing on to the mountain or even continuing your hike to Floyen. We loved the nature, springs and sherpa steps. And the views are spectacular. This is a must thing to do in Bergen and i would definitely repeat it if i ever return to this lovely town.

    Bergen, Norway Mt. Ulriken tour
Bergen, Norway Mt. Ulriken tour On August 2, 2023 our Azamara Pursuit cruiser stopped in Bergen, the second largest city in Norway. My wife and I took 3 hrs. bus tour offered by Azamara for $159/person. During the drive to Mt Ulriken cable car we were introduced to the history and points of interest. Our guide was not a local person and our driver was very informative during our private conversations with her. Top of the summit gave us an impressive 360-degree views. On the way back to the ship some of the passengers asked to be dropped at the city center, but we came back to the ship and after taking a few hours break we strolled back to the city center located within 10 to 15 min leisurely walk. On the way back to the ship we took a walk through the Bergenhus Fortress, dating back to 16th century. Weather was great and it was another enjoyable day in our 14 nights Norway intensive voyage with Azamara. Good Travels

At 365 NOK (return) this is perhaps one of the most expensive attractions you can visit in Bergen and it really is worth it on a clear day. It is much higher than the Mount Floyen, and you can see for miles into the distance across a much wider field of view if the weather is good! The lower station has ticket machines inside the building to purchase although you are encouraged to purchase your tickets in advance.

I bought my ticket online scanned through the QR ticket on the electronic turnstile and waited for some other tourists to join the car before we ascended to the top. During the shoulder season its common the cable car runs when there is waiting passenger/s, rather than to a scheduled service owing to much reduced traffic. Even on the way back down I was the only person in the car. It was even able to run against gale force winds without bouncing around!

The weather at the top was windy and much colder than below, fortunately I wrapped up warm. You can walk around the top of the mountain, including visiting the café/restaurant although be aware toilets and seating are limited! I waited the setting sun out until darkness enveloped the scenery, meaning not only I got a beautiful view of the setting sun, but was able to get a set of photos at night of Bergen as well as those taken in day-time, all across a 2.5 hour period. There are also much fewer tourists come dinner time/dusk!

On a side note, the Ulriken café/restaurant at the top is expensive. Take a drink with you and some food to snack on before you head up to the top. Its tempting to go inside and get something there, but you will thank yourself later!

It is possible to hike up/down, but be aware this is not for the faint hearted owing to the sudden changes of weather, it's steepness and that it is not at all lit. Those that have done it have even said it was worthwhile. The cable car operates until quite late.

It's not easy to locate but it's a great view once you're there. If you're near the wharf, you'll need to taxi (expensive) or figure out the bus system. From the bus stop, it's a not insignificant 15 minute walk uphill to the base gondola. You can buy your tickets there and it's a short ride to the top. During the winter, it's snow covered and beautiful. You can walk out through the snow and down the mountain a bit if you wish. The mountain offers a gorgeous panoramic of Bergen and the neighboring areas. They also have a very stylish cafe where you can warm up, have food and beverages. Overall, definitely worth the trek.

Amazing! We got the first bus from Bergen city centre to Ulriken and were some of the first people up the cable car in the morning, it was so quiet and peaceful (and we were lucky that the sun was out)

It soon got busy so I'd recommend trying to get there as early as you can.

You can walk up / down but it's approx 2000 steps (as in stairs) each way. Many people were doing this and it would have been lovely but I stuck to the cable car each way.

There are many walks and hikes you can go on, not signposted so ensure you know your way and take water / be prepared.

It takes a little longer to reach Ulriken than Floyen but the views from here were absolutely amazing.

If you are a hiker, you could choose to visit Ulriken.
There are different routes to the top, but I prefer the one with the newly done steps. They were done a couple of years ago by sherpas, and it's amazing to look at the construction of these rocks and imagining how they were build. From the top its a spectacular view, and in clear weather it's one of the best places to be in Bergen.

From here you can walk to Fløyen, or just go down again, and have a well deserved meal in the city center.

Note that this is quite an exhausting trip, so you should either have lots of time, or be in good shape.
It takes about an hour in good tempo to the top. Can be done in 45 minutes if you are a fast walker, even up hills, but that's not recommendable. Rather take your time and enjoy the beautiful nature and the views along the way.

We went on the cable car not realising that there was no view at all, due to the fog, it looked ok from the bottom of the hill. We requested a refund as we spent less than a minute at the top, as we could not see anything, which was denied.

The tickets are very expensive so make you can see the view, as they will not tell you if the visibly is zero prior to purchasing the tickets. We were very disappointed. I understand they cannot control the weather, however they can more transparent about the visibility, so people can make a decision based on reality of the conditions at the top.

Mount Ulriken is a mountain in Bergen, Norway. It's one of the city's most iconic landmarks and offers stunning views of the surrounding area. We reached the summit by taking the Ulriken cable car in Jan-2024. Enjoyed the windy snowy weather at the top. There is one good restaurant available at the top. Cable car took NOK395 for a round trip per person

Being unfamiliar with the area we used a taxi from the funicular lower station over to the cable car.

Buying tickets was easy and views were stunning as our empty gondola died us to the top station which was snowy and icy.

After taking photos we enjoyed a drink in the cafe before going back down.

We couldn’t find a taxi so walked down the road past the hospital to the main road thinking we’d get a bus back into town.

We saw a structure which looked like a public transport station so we cautiously entered and bought tickets before descending three very lengthy escalators to a platform.

I think we were on an AirPort Express tramway but it soon took us back into town. Yet another example of very efficient Norwegian transport systems.
