If you are a hiker, you could choose to visit Ulriken. There are different routes to the top, but I prefer the one with the newly done steps. They were done a couple of years ago by sherpas, and it's amazing to look at the construction of these rocks and imagining how they were build. From the top its a spectacular view, and in clear weather it's one of the best places to be in Bergen. From here you can walk to Fløyen, or just go down again, and have a well deserved meal in the city center. Note that this is quite an exhausting trip, so you should either have lots of time, or be in good shape. It takes about an hour in good tempo to the top. Can be done in 45 minutes if you are a fast walker, even up hills, but that's not recommendable. Rather take your time and enjoy the beautiful nature and the views along the way. …

Nice ride up the cable car, lovely locals take the trip with their dogs to walk the many tracks in the mountains. Very cold up the top during winter, so be sure to take many layers. The cafe wasn't open when we went, but the view from the cafe balcony was definitely worth sitting there anyway! Plenty of walking trails for those who want to make a day of it. You can also walk up or down the stairs at the side of the mountain if you don't fancy a cable car ride!…
