The Floibanen funicular in Bergen is one of Norway's best-known attractions. Floibanen can be found in the heart of Bergen, 150 m from Fisketorget - the fish market - and Bryggen wharf, and it takes just 10 minutes to walk to the lower station from where the cruise ships dock along Bryggen. The journey up to Floyen (320 m above sea level) takes 5-8 minutes. The journey is an experience in itself, and at the top you can enjoy fantastic views over Bergen. Check out the view right now from our webcam of Bergen seen from Floyen.

There are endless opportunities for walks on Floyen, and you will also find a cafe, restaurant and children's playground. The funicular runs daily all year round from early morning to late evening (check our departure times).

If you're looking to get the juices flowing in your hiking legs, this is a nice little urban hike up with frequent scenic viewpoints. You might pass some witches and trolls on the way.

A fun thing to do in Bergen when it's raining ;-). Great view from the top. It was nice to sit down for a bit after a lot of walking.

Lovely views from the top of all of Bergen, definitely worth the trip. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed so we didn't stop long

A must do. Bring your camera! Maybe a coat as well : ) The train itself is quite new. I suggest sitting in the front row of the train for the best photos.

Perfect view. Very well organized. Easy to get there. But it all depends on weather. I had sunshine and it was a great experience

If staying in Bergen you must go up to the top of Mount Floyen at sunset for some stunning views. I took the funicular which was great , modern and clean a great way to get to the top.

It is stunning to walk up to mount Floyen. The view is spectacular. Take on a good pair of shoes and go for it. You can also take the train up there if hiking is a problem. It is worth the while.
