We found this local artist shop while exploring the historic alleys in historic waterfront of Bryggen. This is walking distance from where cruise ships dock for Bergen. We are always on the look out for local art scenes as a momento of our trip. This was the perfect find. The artist was there and we purchased a colorful scene of houses on the waterfront. Very reasonably priced.

While stralling through the picturesque passages of Bryggen, my attention suddenly was captured by pieces of extraordinary artwork, exhibited in front of a cozy art shop named DMG Atelier. On the first glimpse the pictures seemed to be sketches, which by themselves were already perfect compositions. But when I took a second look, I was thrilled to discover the artists unique style. David Matej Goljat created his drawings by using just one single line, and therefore, everything in the picture was connected - like life itself. At times he added additional layers of bright colors to the designs, but at the core there was always the beautiful concept of connection. Because of the depth, the clarity and the maturity of the artwork, I was really more than surprised to meet a relatively young artist inside the shop. We then started a conversation and David took some of his precious time off to have a chat with me, explaining his artwork and sharing some wonderful personal insights of his life. It turned out that David already had a highly successful career before he decided to follow entirely his passion of painting and design. His energy was really inspiring. I hope to have a conversation with this beautiful and talented person one day again and to return to Bergen and to buy at least one of his originals. Thank you David!
