We were on a Viking cruise and took this excursion. So glad we did. What a beautiful farm just outside of town. Learned so much about farming in the area. Very interesting. Our guide was local and even worked at the farm. Had a excellent sit down pastry and drink. The girls talked about their attire and what it all meant. Was one of the highlights of our trip. Would love to go back again and spend more time just exploring the area, the farm and especially the farm.

Our family of four booked an independent tour on our own. The farm is in a really beautiful setting overlooking a reservoir and surrounded by mountains. It is very close to the city so very easy to reach by taxi. We were able to ride the horses in the paddock and feed the sheep and handle some of the other animals. My girls (early 20s) loved the experience and I am sure it would be fabulous for younger children. Our hostess was delightful and the dessert to wrap up the visit was delicious. Hard to find a more idyllic place than this. One of the best things we did in Bergen.

We came to the farm on a Viking cruise excursion, and it was our favorite in Bergen. It’s absolutely gorgeous, every direction you look. Beautiful animals they allow you to interact with, hungry little goats come running to the shake of a can! Our excursion included a little lunch break of pastries, handmade by the owner who is also a pastry chef (and teaches inmates the skill), apple juice or hot chocola. The owner is an amazing host, can speak on any subject eloquently, and plays the piano beautifully as well. The trip was topped off by the servers & owner showing their gorgeous, traditional Norwegian costumes. The whole experience was fun, and interesting, in a beautiful landscape- if you get the chance, take it.

Visiting this farm, meeting the farm family, learning the history and having a mouth watering traditional Norwegian dinner was the highlight of a nine day tour with Trafalger.

Our tour visited Ovre-Eide Gard. Since my maternal grandfather (morfar) grew up on such a farm before emigrating to Minnesota in the 1880s, I found the discussion of farm life extremely interesting. We were told about both their horse and sheep operations. Then we went into the house for lunch. I very much enjoyed the lunch. Towards the end of the lunch one of our hostesses came into the dinning room dressed in her traditional dress (Bunad). Among other items she told us how their stocking color revealed marital status. I would have liked to have included picture of her but she requested I did not. I was also very impressed by the young student groups who were leaving the farm as we were arriving. I was particularly surprised to see the diversity of the children.

Dear Ed, thank you very much for your kind words, we truly appreciate the feedback! We are sad to learn that you weren't able to get a picture of one of our girls in bunad, as this is something that we offer all our tour guests. We will take this feedback further, and make sure it doesn't happen again! Hope to see you back in the future! Regards, The team at Øvre-Eide Farm
