It is a steep walk up to the fortress ( especially in the snow) but is worth it for the great view across the town . It is free to enter and a must see in Trondheim.

Lovely views from the top. Nice to walk around and look down on Trondheim. Only took about an hour in total to walk up and down and take some photos.

Must do if visiting Trondheim. Even in the winter when it's snowing and blowing. The views are simply spectacular. From this commanding outpost it is possible to get a real reading for Tr ondheim and it's geography.

Quite a walk up and in February best use ice spikes on your shoes! The views over Trondheim are spectacular, so worth the effort!!

It's quite the hike to get up to the fortress if you're walking, but the effort is worthwhile. The fortress provides stunning views of the city below, and beautiful sweeping lawns to enjoy. Doesn't hurt that there is a bar at the top either!

As a fortress itself there wasn't much to it, but the views of the city and the Fjords more than make up for it! Beware if going in the winter as it is quite an uphill hike and there are no indications as to where...More

Part of the historic walk the fort provided a stunning backdrop to the winter snow. The map from the tourist office provided some nice walks taking in parts of the old town and some great panoramic viewpoints like the fort. Would be stunning in summer...More

When I came here it said the fortress was shut to public, yet the main door was open and people went in and out as they wished. Kristiansten Fortress was built after the city fire in 1681 to protect the city against attack from the...More

We had a bracing walk up to the fort early in the morning. As it was early, it was fairly deserted. The views of Trondheim were spectacular and if you were to go just for that, it would be well worth the trip. I have...More
