The range of puzzles the escape room has to offer are really great. I loved the variety. I picked the haunted house room, and it was perfect in atmosphere. Some of us even screamed.
I did have trouble that a couple of the clues were in Norwegian like a newspaper with clues, and luckily we were a mixed speaking party. But the rest of the experience was done in English, because I needed it to be in English. So it was great that option was there for tourists. I have done other rooms in the past, and they were all in English.
I highly recommend it overall, it's a great group activity because you have to work together with the clues. I had a lot of fun and hope to visit again.

This was challenging and fun at the same time. Did not need any prior knowledge, was logical and funny. We have been to several, but here it was good cooperation and fun for everyone. Hinter did not say himself, but with incredibly much laughter and irritation when we realized what clues led to.

10/10 for an awesome experience! Me and my fiancé did the „Escape the gallows“ with brother and sister-in-law, and the challenges were delightfully engaging! The ambience was well set, the riddles were cool and our Game master was both funny and professional! We’ll be back for another room to solve!

We did escape the gallows and it was a really nice, authentic room with some great puzzles. Only downside was that it felt a bit short and we got out with too much time to spare. Huge bonus points for letting the kids watch us on a pad while we were in, made the wait for them so much more fun.

Difficult puzzles, many clues that led to nothing, and suddenly minor clues that opend a door...... Exciting:-)

Did Cold War with friends (students). This room was challenging and I had a lot of fun. I have done three escape rooms before and definitly liked this one. We made it out in time with no clues. I like the refrigeratormagnets you get when you manage to escape before the time runs out.

Hello!
Thank you so much for your kind review. I am so happy to her that you and your friends had a good time in "Cold war espionage". Escaping this room without using any clues is very impressive indeed! Expert-level "Rocket 1987" next?

My teenage son and daughter really enjoyed the challenges of "Escape the gallows" today. The challenges were very well made, and suitably difficult. But what really impressed me was how well the hostess took care of me and my 6 year old daughter. The teenagers preferred to solve the challenges alone, so my little daughter and I were waiting. The hostess suggested that she could lend us a computer where we could follow the progress of the teenagers on "TV". The hostess even explained to us the challenges that the teenagers were facing, and gave progress reports. So instead of a potentially boring hour of waiting, we had a great experience watching "reality TV" with the teenagers. I have visited several escape rooms in Europe, but this was by far the best, both regarding the challenges and regarding the service we got.
I hope that the Escape Room concept can become even more popular so that there can be more competition between the sites and the price can come down. The Escape Room site in Kristiansand is not the most expensive though.
Thanks for a great experience!

This was not a favourite.. The gamemaster was really nice, but the room just wasn't that good. It had a few puzzles I really liked, but overall it was not for me. For every ten minutes that pass you will hear a sound that indicated this. I like it better when there is a clock in the room, so you always know how much time you have left. A combination of the two would've been awsome. I think this room suit first-time escapers better the experienced ones. Although I didn't like this room I will go back to try more!

Thank you for your feedback.
I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy Escape the gallows that much.
I ofte ask people who have tried all of our rooms which room they liked the most, and one of the most frequent answers is Escape the gallows. One of the reasons why they liked it so much is the authenticity of the room.
Because this is so important to us, we decided not to have a timer in the room, because we feel it would destroy the feeling of actually being in the middle ages. As you say, there is a bell that indicates how much time you have left. When there is only 2 minutes left the bell will start ringing more and more frequently to indicates that the time is about to run out.
All of our rooms are very different, and I can see that they don't all fit as well for every one. In Escape the gallows there are a lot of physical puzzles, which a lot of people love, while some might not enjoy them so much and prefer for example puzzles with numbers or riddles.
I see from a former review that you enjoyed Cold war espionage a lot. I can definately recommend the room Rocket 1987, because a lot of people who liked Cold war also had a great time in Rocket.
I hope you get to come back to try some of our other rooms, as we are confident that you will enjoy them a lot.

We visited kristiansand by cruise ship. We were surprised to see this as one of the top tripadvisor locations for the town (and honestly it set our expectations of the town a bit low) but we made a great walk through the town to get to the place and then back.
The staff is was super nice and very helpful when we needed help but kept things challenging. Their English was good.
The gallows room was awesomely designed as far as scenery, progression of and steps to get out. We made it out and it made our day. Great family teamwork to solve.
We talked about it the next few days.

I tried Escape Room Kristiansand with two teens. We had a great experience the first day solving the "Cold War" Room. We liked it so much that we returned the next day to try "Escape the Gallows".
Nice combination of different kinds of challenges. Also liked the fact that we all had to work well together to be successful.

Hi Shira!
Escape games are typically non-linguent, meaning that you do not need to know any language to play.
HOWEVER, our game masters speak mostly Norwegian and English, and the hints in-game are translated to Norwegian and English, so some knowledge of English is a prerequisite!
We hope to see you soon :)
