The app is useless
Oct 2021 • Family
You need to get rid of the app and just let people buy things normally. I know you think having an app is easier and modern but it's not. It makes everything needlessly complicated. It's a huge negative effect on the experience when you can't do anything without having to wrestle with a badly designed app for 30 minutes each time.

This is actually a wonderful park, with a wide range of animals and a few activities. However the experience gets destroyed by other aspects, which the park inflict on them selves.

The initial experience with booking tickets, with both the app and the web site, is extremely poor. Somebody has not had the user in mind when this was designed and the frustration felt when trying (over and over again) to book is indescribable.

When we arrived at the park did it become clear that the park does not view the full holiday period (Norwegian school summer holiday) as a peek period, as lots of attractions, show and stands where closed. We where totally fine with the fact that there where some restrictions due to COVID-19, but this however does not explain the fact that sales outlets (where you did not need to enter the shop) etc was closed. You get no for-warning that things are closed. You need to book all rides and buy all purchases by using the (hopeless) app, as COVID-19 prevention, but there are limited places to charge your phone. No smart phone = no fun!

We had a two day ticket, and tried to book a lot of events prior to our arrival, however many things where sold out long in advance. This shows that the park is not designed to entertain the number of visitors they let in, nor are they able to cater for visitors who has not planned the visit far in advance. Most other parks set a side a few spaces for "walk-up" customers, but not this one. So if you haven't planned your visit far, far in advance and in the main holiday period, don't expect to be able to participate in any of the events that are heavily advertised. Albeit the park was not at capacity when we visited, did we have to cue for at least 40 min per ride. An amusement park which is seasonally based, will have higher prices than shops and kiosks outside the park. We where charged Nok 44 _(€4,4) for a bottle of still water. That's over 100% mark-up and feels very excessive. The food which could be bought where, from a quality aspect, similar of what you get in other parks, albeit still very expensive and with a very high (30-100%) mark up of prices. You are allowed to bring your own food and drinks, but there are extremely limited possibilities to re-fill water bottles etc.

We aimed to also visit the water park, however the functionality in the app prevents you from seeing availability at the water park prior to going through the whole booking experience and after several attempts to book did we simply give up.

As with many other parks is this one designed, so that you as a parent experience a lot of pestering from the young ones to buy things at a very high price point. The visit is almost an exercise in saying NO to the kids over and over again. Not because you don't want them to have things, just because the prices are so incredibly high.

To summarise: this is a good park to see exotic animals (as it's impossible to se the Nordic ones due to the layout of the pens (which are of a good size for the animals)), however this is not a theme park with lots of attractions.
Don't expect to be able to take full advantage of the offerings as most rides or shows are sold out far in advance or are closed with no warning. And if you are able to book your stay without breaking your pc/phone in pure frustration... congratulations

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to give us a honest review. We are currently working on making both our app and website more user friendly, and we are avare of our weaknesses. After the summer holiday we offer a lower activity level, and we recommend to have a look at our activity calendar at our website before visiting us. Due to COVID-19 there is less capacity on a lot of our shows and rides. Next summer we are hopefully back to normal again, with bigger capacity and drop in-solutions. Best regards from Maria, Dyreparken

Fantastic experience for the whole family

Fantastic experience with lots of quality programs for the entire family. Considering the corona situation the park is very well prepared, downloading the app is recommended as you can use it for everything!

Big zoo lots animals
Aug 2021 • Family
This zoo has a ton of animals, and ton of monkeys. It is very child friendly and has a few really good restaurants too. It also has a pretty good reptile house.

Nice Place for Children !
Jul 2021
We visited Dyreparken on 23rd July 2021. There were lot of activities for children and varieties of Animal in the park. My 4 year old kid son enjoyed a lot. We saw lion, tiger, Zebra, Giraffe, peacock and many more animals. They also organize shows for children in different areas in the park which makes outing more joyful !
Washrooms are available in every few meters in the park and food can ordered by dyreparken app which is convenient. In all, nice place to visit with children.

Not what I expected, unfortunately.
Jul 2021 • Couples
I was at the park on the 26.07.21 and I, as many of you, had high expectations as I have heard great things about this place.
What I did not expect was what I was met with. The park is very unintuitive to navigate, the staff uninspiring, and there were very few animals to view.

I love to observe animals and have been to many zoos in the past. By far, this is the most disappointing experience so far, unfortunately.

All that being said, I give it two in rating, because I found the vegetation pleasing, and also I see the potential of what the experience could have been like🙂

Hi, Thank you for giving us a honest review. I`m sorry to read that this was your experience this summer. Most of our animals have big areas, and because of that it may be difficult to see them sometimes. Welcome back another time. Best regards from Maria, Dyreparken

Not worth it
Jul 2021 • Family
Overcrowded and most things are closed and badly organized. Avoid as it is a total ripoff. They fill the park to the edges

Shameful tourist trap
May 2021 • Family
Scam!!!!
Everything is closed except some animals exhibits. I complained about it to mangement onsite but they didn t care. Apparently, the reduction of 10% on the original entrance price allows them to do what they want….

Not worth the price
Apr 2021 • Family
Half of the park is closed. No food to purchase whatsoever. Not even a vending machine with juice for kiddos. Half of the attractions are closed (Corona precaution), and some animals where also gone, it's fine but then inform people at entrance and reduce the ticket price. We were like idiots wandering around an empty park. The walk is nice, but so is a stroll in the woods and that is for free.
