We had a nice Sunday here with our kids and painted our own art. The kids there seemed to enjoy it. There’s also a popular activity room where the kids can play.

Probably not for the casual museum go-er, but if you have an interest in art well worth checking out. A very cool museum experience. Interesting exhibits and the staff is very knowledgeable. Enjoy!

If you like art, go here. Nice café with student discount, bring your student-ID!They have a sitting area in front of the house when sunny. Several floors with different paintings, sculptures, instilliations etc. They also have a small art shop and an cute elderly lady selling you different effects.

For me, one star reviews are only for the absolute exceptions of really really bad experiences. I would never give out such a low score if it’s not completely deserved.
Came as a family of two adults and three kids. Ordered five bubble waffles with ice (soft ice) with all toppings. Not only did it take forever to get them, but we got strawberry ice cream cones (the cheap kind) instead of vanilla soft ice. And not all toppings, but something else. We cancelled one bubble waffle, because of this.
When we were done I had to go inside myself to remind them that they owed me 119,- NOK. It looked like they had no idea how to fix the issue. I had to tell them to give back the money they owed me. I got 110,- NOK back because they didn’t have more to give.. for me 9,- NOK is nothing, but it’s the bare principal that you should threat your customers correctly and always give them what they are entitled.
The fact that this is happening in Norway is just embarrassing.

A rare glimpse into Norwegian art both local and national. Passionate guides wanting to help and share their knowledge. Plenty of activities for the kids too.

There are better options in the town for an art exhibition, but a tour with a guide can be interesting.
Temporary exhibition summer 2017 was ok, not more than that.

We ended up here off the cruiseship on a rainy day. The spcial exhibition was very nice and interesting. The permanent shows on the other floors are a mixed bag of old and modern art. We did notice that they had a special area for children and there were some groups of kids having lots of fun. Otherwise, you really have to be into paintning mainly, to want to visit here.

The admission fee isnt too bad, but even though the content is spread over several floors, the content variaty and quality is not very high. To be quite frank it is booring and non-interesting compared to other museums we've been to. If you go then you best be interested in portraits, urns and bowls. Even with some themes being current and relevant to modern day issues, as a whole this museum is not worth a visit.
