The square in front of the cathedral. Not very big, surrounded by old buildings. I found here a souvenir shop. Otherwise, nothing to remember...

We walked through here after stopping at a nearby coffee shop. There really wasn't anything in the square when we visited, like stalls. Just lots of people walking on by.

Oslo city was rebuilt by the Danish & Norway King Christian IV, who lived 1577-1624. The Square has statue of him, pointing finger down: "here it shall be". Old Oslo had been destroyed by a fire and new city was moved bit.
Other sights close by are the Cathedral, shopping center and Karl Johans Gate.

A great place to stop if you want some fresh flowers, fresh vegetables and fruit or just to people watch. You can't miss it because there is a big statue of Christian IV. This square has been open for business since the 17th century. Don't miss out on the incredible strawberries!

Electric Wheelchair trip from Stortorvet to Torshov - 6-8 km each way. Beautiful spring day. There is a marked bicycle path - most of the time about 8 meters wide on smooth, flat surface, with almost no vehicle traffic... (I went a late Friday afternoon). It starts at Stortorvet and takes you across Akers elva (river) and up through the old part of town, (Grønnerløkka) past parks with huge old trees, and along the Akers river valley in Torshov - very close to Mathallen if you want to detour there (open food hall). I took it all the way to what we call Soria Moria which is a landmark (cinema/theatre) in the northern part of Torshov.. just west of the Torshov valley. Although I have done this trip hundreds of times in my youth, I hadn't done it after the bike part was put in, and I had never done it in my electric wheelchair. So liberating and lots of eclectic places along the way to explore if you want to do that, and lots of cafes and restaurants. The actual going back and forth took me 1 hour each way - I was meeting someone so went at 8 - 10km/hr.

This square once was a major marketplace in central Oslo. It’s now a relatively peaceful square housing a seasonal flower and produce market. There is a statue of King Christian IV in the center. The square is bounded by Oslo Cathedral on one side and the huge GlasMagasinet department store on another. Pleasant enough but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit.

A small number of booths, rather large ones, and with fairly long opening hours. Traditional veggies, flowers and seasonal offers are all there. Quite ok, ordinary and ok as such.

Its is not that much to see here. They sell flowers here and there are a few shops around. The tramb and bus leaved from here, and also it is very near the Karl Johans Gate. Thats all. But if you want to see the Cathedral, its just across the street.

There's not much to see here, but it does have a small fruit and vegetable market in the summer that I like

I needed some flowers for a hostess gift, and this small, tented flower seller had just the thing - gorgeous red chrysanthemums that were fresh and very saturated color. My hostess LOVED them! Very extensive selection of flowers, considering the time of year.
