Interesting gardens and sculptures and nice cafe
Lovely gardens, themed areas with interesting plants. The natural medicinal herbs and plants area was interesting and had good signage. A sensory Granny’s garden was interesting to help aid those with memory loss, and contained some old favourites! Planting by region of Norwegian indigenous plants was also interesting. A lovely cafe, with inside and outside seating in a pleasantly planted up courtyard served good coffee and some lovely snacks and pastries. Well worth a visit as it also contained some interesting sculptures. Central and relatively easy to get to.

Nature in the heart of the city
Like most Oslo attractions, the gardens are very large and you can walk there for hours. The informatiuon is well done about plants and species, especially in the greenhouses. One of them houses the large Victoria plant but also very very tiny plants, the smallest flowering plants in the worlds, little specks in a bowl of water..Entrance is free and only a few hundred meters from Toyen metro station, in the heart of the city.

An oasis of calm in the city!
The Oslo Botanical Gardens are an oasis in the city, and a great place to escape the dust from the streets and the noise from the traffic. Walking around their impressive number of plant-species, you are treated with a wonderful time out from the city. There is a very nice little cafe on the grounds and you find a couple of museums on one end, all worth a visit as well. Not a great place for picnics, but a cross the road from the park on the Tøyen side, there is another beautiful park, perfect for picnics or just hanging out after a visit to the Botanical Gardens.

It’s a delightful green space with many attractions. Particularly the rich precious variety of plants and trees.

Lovely walking trails are numerous and strolling along is a terrific way to enjoy a couple hours. All surrounded by sylvan tranquillity.

Three divisions of the superb Natural History Museum contain absorbing exhibits and informative exhibits.

What a lovely summer's day in the gardens. Optional fee can be inserted in container on entry. There are numerous sections of gardens as well as two greenhouse structures. We spent 2 1/2 - 3 hours exploring, we got 171 pictures. The signs indicate Apr - May are best for full flowering but there were plenty of wonderful blooms in all sections. Picnickers everywhere and a thriving cafe on site.

The Botanical Gardens are really quite a wonderful display of flowers, trees, and bushes, all labeled and well taken care of. You could easily spend hours walking, sitting, and enjoying this space. The paths are extensive and the area quite large. If beautifully manicured gardens are of interest to you, this would be your place indeed.

This was one of the most beautiful gardens I have seen. They have plants that I have never seen before. There were these "lily pads" called "Nokkerosen Victoria" that were huge and could hold the weight of an infant...amazing! Also, we met a very informative gentleman while we were in the abortorium who spent a great deal of time with us explaining the evolution of plants. Very educational. Go see those "lily pads"!

These gardens are very nicely organized and plants are well displayed, named and explained. We visited in early June, and were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful blooms throughout the garden. A very nice walk, indeed.

i visited the botanical gardens and found it somewhat underwhelming, such as palm area. the general gardens are pleasant enough and would be a restful place to pass your time but somehow i expected more from a botanical gardens. cafe also closed so no where to obtain a drink after longish walk from city centre. if limited for time, i would have this low on my list.

Peaceful garden, with very interesting rock garden and herb garden areas, and a beautiful sensory garden. Lots of more informal areas, plenty of paths, an educational Viking garden,a cafe and toilets. Well worth a visit.

An utter delight in the heart of Oslo. We enjoyed everything about it. The layout and the diversity - grand sweeping lawns, small herb gardens, winding paths - made it a real sanctuary. There is something for everyone here and worth a detour if you want a space to relax. We also saw a Hawfinch. What's not to love?
