Nasjonal jazzscene is an intimate concert local with good sound and lighting, both for the artists and the audience.Seats are not numbered so bee aerly to get good seats. The jazz music is both norwegian and international from mainstream to improvisation.Cozy cafe tables are in front of stage,in the back is an amphitheater with comfortable sofas on sides there are galleries,I sat at the back in a sofa and had a good view.Atmosphere is relaxed and laidback a good place to calm down. There is also a bar with beer, wine and cocktails.Best:comfortable sofa seats Worst:no food served. A jazz concert is about 1-3 hours long.

I always return to Victoria for nice concerts. This time it was Yazmin Lacey. She made a great performance with Pete on keyboard and Tom on the drums. Victoria is the place you get to meet the mucicians after the concert and this time was no excuse. Got myself a new vinyl EP of Yaz too!

Since I missed out getting tickets to the concert I visited Victoria for drinks after dinner. Luckily I met the artists in the bar and had a nice chat. Welcoming staff and nice atmosphere.

Was there with employer and guests (=customers) and we had rented the entire place. This is a good place to treat guest, easy to mingle, good food and good music. When there, it does not appear as a hall, but like and old fashioned theatre with ample mingling space. One slight flaw in this respect as this is a concert hall, there is no place to hide and continue to mingle if you would like to continue chatting after the music has started.

Had a fantastic jazz night at Victoria with several different bands playing. The tight jazz venue is good for listeners and the artists meet you after the session. Love it!

Victoria has this nice atmosphere and intimicy you want when listening to jazz. They manage to get great musicians and bands, and this time I had a wonderful evening listening to to Eric Truffaz and his crew. One of the best music experiences ever! Had talks With him and the crew after the show, and this is really one of the nice sides of Victoria; very often the artists take the time to meet the audience after playing. I'll be back!

This venue opened as a cinema in 1915, and creates the perfect atmosphere for the best jazz musicians from both Norway and from all over the world. Named one of the finest jazz clubs in Europe, it usually runs concerts every week form Wednesday to Saturday. As a national center for jazz in Norway any music lover is guarantied a good time.

We happened across this great jazz club, tucked away on the "main drag" of Karl Johans Gate between two restaurants, one of which was TGIFridays. The venue is a great space with terrific acoustics and no bad seating.
There's the main floor with a large bar and tables, and then amphitheater style seating up to a small balcony. You have to go to the bar to get your drinks as there is no table service, but this really isn't an issue. We saw a Norwegian electronic jazz trio who were fabulous (sorry, can't remember their name), and the price was good when we bought tickets at the door. (about $40US per person).
If you like jazz, definitely check this out.

I had the pleasure of happen to be in town for business on the evening when Gary Peacock's trio (Marc Copeland on piano and Mark Ferber on drums) was performing at the Oslo Jazz Festival. I enjoyed the gig, and the Nasjonal Jazzscene was a fine location. It is a smallish club, with bar on the side, balconies on both sides and cosy atmosphere. Good place for gigs. I had a glass of pinot noir, which went well with the night's performance :)

I've noticed there are no concerts at Victoria during our stay (26th of June - 10th of July), is this place still worth visiting when there are no concerts planned? Is it even open at all?
Written May 27, 2018
It is only open on concert nights.
