About
Ths idyllic little house is a great place to stop on your walk along the river Akerselva. The name Honse-Lovisas hus (Hen-Lovisa's house) comes from a literary character. It was built in 1800 as a sawmiller's house. Today it is a café and cultural meeting place, where the arts and crafts of today meet tradition and history of the past. Honse-Lovisas hus has handmade arts and crafts for sale. Every day except Monday you can get a cup of coffee and a delicious piece of cake, or a little something for lunch.

Two goodbfriends normally have a pit stop at this historical small house at the Akerselva (river). It's connected to a he author Oskar Braaten who wrote about the life of industry workers in the last century. Hønse (hen)-Lovise was probably not a real person, but an imagination of a lady helping the exploited female workers. However, it's a place for a coffee and a Norwegian "vaffel" with brown cheese. Enjoy!

Lovely place at few paces from the busy grunerløkka. Surrounded by nature with only the noise of a warerfall as background

Lovely location and good coffee! It’s also right along the river walking path and is a great spot to stop and admire the waterfalls.

We stopped in for coffee while visiting the waterfall that sits just outside the doors. It's a small, quaint place with a nice local charm. The coffee was good, the service was friendly, and the setting is beautiful and relaxing, especially if you take a seat outside next to the falls.
