This park is the biggest park in the Grünerløkka area. There is a playground for the kids. In the middle of the park lies the Sofienberg church. The park was originally a cemetery.

This is my favourite park in Oslo. Loads of beautiful norwegian girls, cheap to rent a bbq, the police don't mind people drinking, free public toilets and supermarket close by to get food and drinks. They have playground for kids and all kind of people hang out there. It's really nice in the summer and the fall.

When the weather is good Norwegians like to go to the park and enjoy the sun, BBQ some sausages and have a relaxed time. Sofienberg Park is a good place to do this. Located in Grünerløkka, the park is very close to a massive array of restaurants and bars. There are 2 types of bathrooms at the park; the older coin operated ones that I've heard are quite filthy though I've never used them. The newer credit card operated bathroom is VERY CLEAN. The new bathroom is fully automated and cleans itself after every use. It does not take coins and I'm not 100% sure if it works with foreign cards though. I tried to use my card and it didn't work so had to use a local friend's card. Either bathroom costs 5kr. There's a play area for children as well as table tennis tables.

Central Oslos hot spot for enjoying the sun, drinking wine or beer or just enjoying the sun. Morbidly enough placed on top of an old cemetery, where 90.000 people has been buried. As if that is not bad enough, there are toilet facilities consists of four "portapottys", which can be a bit too little, when the park fills up with several thousand hipsters. The patrons has little to none interest in picking up their litter, and the entire place is a stinking dump, and most of the grass that once covered the park is mud. Stay away from this hellhole, and visit Vigelandsparken, Tøyenparken or one of the beautiful city islands.

Sofienbergparken (Park) is located in the popular area called Grunerløkka only 15 minutes walk from Oslo raliwaystation. Sofienbergkirke (Church) is connected to the park. Sofienbargparken is a vibrant and very popular rest area for the community of Oslo. If the weather is nice tha park will be crowded with people who are enjoying the sun, BBQ, playing guitar, have a drink or just relax with friends. There can be 300 - 1000 people in the park if waether is nice. What most people does not know is that the park is actually an old graveyard. The graveyard was converted to a park around 50 years ago. As many as 20000 people were burried in the park/graveyard from 1900 to 1920. There is no sign of the graveyard today. There is only a very small Jewish Graveyard between Rathkesgate and Helgesensgate (on the upper right side of the park). If you are visitng Oslo as a toursit, Sofienbergparken is the right place to visit if you want to blend in with the locals and perhpas get new friends. Bring BBQ stuff with you, something to dring and a guitar. Highlt recommended!
