In one of the most modern theatrical spaces in Europe many notable performances are presented every year.
A stylish and relaxing foyer is impressive. Portraits of notable thespians, such as Sara Khorami, are displayed.

Perfect place for the hike group, even the ones who don’t tend to visit the theatre too often lived the musical. It is hilariously waited and beautifully professional at the same time. It is so good I could see it one more time.
It is highly recommended.

I went there to see Book of Mormons, excellent! I was very surprised to see the multiethnic group of actors speaking Norwegian. Different accents and forms of Norwegian. Really a good picture of Norway is like today. Top!!!

Det Norske Teatret is probably the only theatre in Norway fit to meet the technical specs for a stage production of this scale and sophistication.
And it was so beautiful and captivating I just had to snap a few photos. This production is no longer available, but for Robert Wilson fans like myself, there are quite a few productions in Germany in 2018 (Düsseldorf, Berlin, Hannover) as well as in the Netherlands, plus Italy at the end of the year.
There have been many memorable productions offered from this stage: Les Miserables, Antigone (Bentein Baardson's production), Allan Edwall's guest visits, Halve Kongeriket – these are among the ones I've enjoyed the most.
I would have recommended the Book of Mormon, but it's sold out for quite some time. However, if you're planning a trip to Oslo in the autumn of 2018, you'll get the chance, though it'll be in Norwegian...

First of all, The book of mormon was super funny!
But the theater needs some improvement:
- Food/Drink service on 2nd floor was poor. Cheap wine and food was badly presented.
- Break is to short when you have to few toilets, the line was about 30 meters outside the bathroom (ladies) and people ran up to the show again to make it.
- Sound was a bit off on row 15.
But the show was awesome.

As we were walking in the area (27 October 2017 evening), along the theater, we noticed its restaurant/bar. We thought it was a good idea to stop and have a drink before - maybe - dining there.
We were received by an unpleasant superficial blond waitress, who abruptly replied that it was possible to have a drink, but she had first to take care of the customers who were having dinner, and had to attend a theater play afterwards, but she could provide us the wine card.
We said « it’s ok, we understand, and we can wait a little bit ».
We left after 30 minutes without any drink, as the same waitress (and her colleagues as well ...) simply ignored us, while we caught each other’s eyes many times.
Why not just be honest and say it’s not possible right now, instead of lying ? Save your time blondie !
Considering the prices, we could expect a better reception. There are so many better places in Oslo !
We will never go again !!!

This theatre's programme is played in one of Norway's official Languages, "nynorsk", - a Language I am not very fond of. But I Accept it at this theatre because I find this theatre has the best programme of all the theatres in Oslo. Every time I am in Oslo, I check out first the programme at this theatre because I am always so impressed and very happy every time I have been to a performance at Det Norske Theater.

After Reading many raving reviews, I had to try out the dining area of the theater. Took a long time to get the attention of a jaded server, and the lunch menu was minimal. Ordered a turkey sandwich, which was sloppily put together and not Worth the price. I'd stay away. -- Couldn't get anyone's attention to pay the bill, and had to track Down someone, who seemed irked at the bother. A dreadful experience. Might have been better With another menu Choice, and they did offer a good variety of Things to drink, but the sandwich was a bust.

Great show.
Very good actors and also scenery and directing.
The show is in Norwegian (Nynorsk), and if you are not familiar with the story, you really need to understand the language.
