Great place to get some sunshine
I had a short layover in Oslo and wanted to take advantage to see this much talked about building. It did not disappoint! I really enjoyed how everyone was tanning o the roof and how the reflective walls made the sun so much brighter and warm!

    Fabulous Architectual Design
We came to this place during our visit to Oslo and was accompanied by a friend who is an architect. She explained to us about the design, angles, pitch and details, making this building very modern and abstract. It's a fantastic! The interior was just as beautiful as the outside.

    A stunning piece of architecture
While not everyone loves the design of this building, I found it to be fantastic. I love the way the roof slopes all the way down to the water and disappears as if it were a glacier melting. Being able to walk all the way to the top of the roof on the sloping sides was so much fun and you get such beautiful views of the city and harbor. There are lots of little grates and protrusions on the sloping roof, as well as the cut-out for the stairs and ramps, so I can only imagine the number of people who trip and fall, but as long as you are watching where you are going, it's fine and fun. The free tours offered of the inside are fabulous. You get to go to the back of the house and behind the stages and through the costume department and wig department, etc. The guide for our tour was a former ballerina, so not only was she incredibly graceful and had inside knowledge of the building, she was funny, too. It was a wonderful experience, seeing this building inside and out.

    Spectacular design and sounds
We had the opportunity to experience part of an opera (Parsifal) in the incredibly intimate opera house. The lobby areas are well designed and we also sampled one of their restaurants, providing easy access to dinner before a performance. The orchestra performed brilliantly along with the three primary singers. Even if there is no performance, join a tour or find a way to see the inside as well as the compelling exterior.

    Beautiful architecture
Absolutely stunning architecture and we saw a programme about how the building was built, which was fascinating. Every time we take a trip to Oslo we walk up to the roof of the Opera House and just spend time looking around. Unfortunately we haven’t made time to see a show there yet but we have been inside and it’s equally as beautiful and thought out as the outside, plus the staff are very friendly. This is a must visit for anyone heading to Oslo.

    A nice Sunday Walk
The unusual configuration of the building is open to walkers and strollers. It is really neat to walk around -- watch your step! It's all white, and there are steps that aren't obvious and just blend in. It is worth the trek, and it is very nice to see the view from the top.

A stunning piece of architecture on the waterfront of Olsofjord
The Oslo Opera House is where the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, and the national opera theatre are based. The building is on the Waterfront of Oslofjord and is a sight to behold, the roof slopes down to the ground where visitors are encouraged to walk to the top for incredible views of the city. Inside the building is just as mesmerising as the outside. It is a stunning structure that truly is worth exploring when in Oslo.

    Beautiful Building, Interesting Tour
Be sure to take the guided tour, which takes you inside the concert hall, and behind the scenes. You’ll get back-stage to see the complicated workings of stage sets, see the costume workshops, and more. Our tour was led by a retired opera singer, who was wonderful.

    Beautiful Architecture !!
It is an excellent piece of architecture. It's worth seeing the way it's constructed not only for the audience coming in the theatre, but also for visitors who just come to enjoy spectacular view. It's located on the seashore and one can walk right up to the roof top which itself was a great fun. We had the chance to go inside and it looked magnificient. Worth seeing...

    Don't sit in Row 3
We are regular opera-goers and like to sit reasonably close to the stage in the stalls. Row 3 is actually Row 2 as there is no Row 1. Sitting in the middle of the row, the view includes a significant part of the orchestra pit which is distracting. Also, the accoustics of the opera house are supposed to be good, but not from Row 3. The orchestra overpowered the singers in Tosca.

I didn’t go inside, but I spent an enjoyable half hour wandering around the roof (which I believe is the setting for at least one of the Harry Hole finales). One thing though - it has a lot of trip hazards and weird sort of big grooves in the marble. Not great if, like me, you have a mild astigmatism.

My guide book says the interior is also worth a visit, but I can’t comment on that.

Night at the opera- Barber of Seville production in Oslo. Great performance and value for money. The overall experience was great. Opera is a fantastic building and the pre drink price was in line with restaurants and bars in Oslo.
