Oslo, as a Capitol city, has probably the most beautiful natural surroundings in the world. If you like walks or skiing there are hundreds of miles With paths and skitracks. Also good alpine skiing. There are also Nice paths along the sea.

The Nordmarka area is easily accessible from the city by public transport. We took the T-bane metro line 1 to Frognerseteren. Activities available in March in the snow were sledging and walking. Many people also took their own Nordic or Alpine skis or snowboards. There are many ski runs which are well lit.

Since I have been coming to Norway and since I moved here I love going hiking and skiing in Nordmarka. There are many places to camp during summer and winter and the DNT Hytte are fantastic if you prefer more civilized sleeping arrangements. Fresh air, friendly people and a beautiful forest with fantastic views. All ranges of hiking and skiing... More

Since I move to Norway, I had to try the national hobbie, passion, essence of the nation : cross-country ski. I tried, and since then, I became addicted, and a go for rides every second day during week days (before going to office), and at least once or twice per week-end. Then, Nordmarka became my top of the list place... More

We caught the no.1 tram up the to the very top of the line and hired the sledges for about 400 Nok for two. You then sledge down the mountain, which is an old toboggan tun for about 15 minutes, and then catch the team back to the top. It is by the far the best experience we have had... More

Nordmarka is what I will call a skiers pradise during the winter. Here you can go cross country, slalåm or downhill. During the summer you can go hiking and fishing, or just walking.

Big and Beautiful place for a hike, we went in January so all the locals were on their cross country ski's and sledges - we were the only ones just using our feet to get around. Absolutely stunning to see all the trees in the snow. Do take sensible gear - its cold and snowy!
