The aurora appeared for us—praise the Lord!!! She came out dancing as we made our first stop of the chase in Signaldalen, about 2 hours outside the city. Quite a spectacle! We shared stories around the camp fire over hot cocoa and beef stew then listened to a fascinating lecture on the northern lights phenomenon from our physicist tour guide. What a magical experience with my Mom! Loved the tour guides! Excellent and hard working, funny and friendly. Paid lots of attention to all the tourists (we joined the smaller bus) and took great pictures of us!

We went on a mini bus tour at the end of February. The entire tour was very well organized and Our guide (Sameer) did everything he could to make it a memorable experience. He took us in different locations and was really entertaining. We were lucky enough to also see the Northern Lights even though it was moderately strong. The dinner and the hot chocolate were just perfect.

We went on two of these trips during our stay and had two totally different experiences. The guides were great and went to a lot of effort to make sure you had the best experience possible. The first trip we ended up in Finland which was a LONG drive! We did manage to see a small amount of Northern Lights activity and was a great experience. The second trip was much closer to home with just over an hour's drive and managed to see the Lights again over a lake which produced some great pictures. The minibuses are very comfortable, which you need them to be as you can end up spending a long time in them. Warm suits and boots are provided as it can get very cold. It was -20 on our first trip! The guides light a camp fire and everyone sits around and had a very tasty dinner, toasted marshmallows and drunk hot chocolate. I would highly recommend this trip but be prepared for it to be a long night and to get very cold! My only negative comment is I would liked to have got more of the guides photos - on both trips they took far more than they uploaded for us to keep.
