About Tromso Friluftsenter
North on the whale island 40 minutes drive threw amazing coastal scenery you will find the most charming place called Risvika. This is our homeplace, and for generations my family have lived by farming and fishing here on the coast. Threw times things have changed, and now the farm has no animals any more. One day my father sat under the magic of the the northern lights when he descided to share with people the amazing gift of nature.. Since 2004 we have had the pleasure to welcome guests from around the world into our hearts and home. Our speciality is the Small groups, the local guides from our area, and the family that gives the real authentic north Norwegian charm that makes our guests come back. Join us when we go chasing the northern lights, or go on the amazing whale safari. Let yourself be taken away with the fun stories, the wormth from the bonfire, the elements of nature and the memory that last for a lifetime.. Hope to be there and share the gift of natur with you!

Trine picked us up as expected and discussed the northern lights on the short drive to her home-place. The fire in the Lavvu was going and we gathered around for hot drinks and cake. After a short while, the light began their display. We moved to the small beach area and had great views to the northeast and northwest. Trine took photos of couples as well as groups of people, as desired, all provided online at no additional cost. She provided tripods for those who needed them and offered suggestions on camera settings. The lights faded after a while and we retreated to the Lavvi for warmth and roasted marshmallows. All-in-all a wonderful experience. If you go, take advantage of the thermal suits.

My apologies for not writing sooner. We arrived Tromso in October 2019 aboard Cunard's Queen Elizabeth. We were a group of 11 and we booked thru Trine at Tromso-Friluftsenter. We were met by Trine at the pier and taken by comfortable van to her home approx 40 minutes from the ship. Our experience with Trine that evening was a fabulous experience. Trine was a knowledgeable and excellent guide in addition to be a wonderful person. A warm fire greeted us at a uniquely designed hut --refreshments served --stories exchanged as we awaited the viewing of the Northern Lights. We saw the lights but the werey difficult to see since the lights were not particularly strong that evening. We were able to get pictures of our own and Trine provided us with pictures that she took with her excellent camera. We returned to the ship, again by Trine who continued to share her wealth of information about Norway. Our entire group was delighted by our entire visit with Tromso-Friluftsenter. As mentioned Trine was exceptional, professional and friendly. It was truly the highlight of our 12 day cruise to Norway. Trine, my apologies for writing about our experience so late but that adventure is still being talked about by our friends who were fortunate enough to have had such an amazing outing with Tromso-Friluftsenter! Thank you and best regards from. Chris/ccjourneys!
