Tromso: Whale Watching onboard the Orca Express

Join our small-group whale watching tour onboard the Orca Express. (No bus travel necessary!)

Built in 1985 the Orca Express is a 50ft motor cruiser with a rich history. Originally serving as an ambulance boat, the Orca Express carried Doctors, Midwives and even a Vet onboard to deliver healthcare to the remote islands in the South of Norway. It is even estimated that around 60 babies were born onboard over the 18 years that the boat was in service!

Now re-designed and upgraded, the Orca Express is the perfect vessel to explore the fjords in search of action. Boasting a 360 degree walk-around deck, capturing photos of the whales in their natural habitat is both easy and safe. Our small-group size of no more than 12 passengers onboard allow you to enjoy clear views of the activity in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

You will also enjoy free onboard Wifi, complimentary hot drinks and snacks and a hot locally made meal as you cruise back to Tromsø after an exhilarating adventure.

We were a bit hesitant to book independent tours from our cruise ship, & this seemed justified when Arctic Adventures emailed to cancel our booking the day before. However when we docked & talked to them on the phone they were extremely helpful & were able to alter the time of our trip by obligingly picking us up direct from the ship rather than us trying to get to the meeting point, which wouldn't have been possible in our time frame. We arrived at the kennels & had time to meet the huskies before heading off on our husky sledding adventure. It was great fun, although it seemed like our team had decided on a walk in the park rather than a full- on run, so my husband did a lot of pushing !!!! Afterwards we went back for hot drinks & cake, & another chance to meet & photograph the huskies. It was an excellent excursion & I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to husky sledding in Tromso.

We were thrilled with our experience! The transport from the hotel was easy to find, was a short walk from our cruise ship, left right on time and returned us to the original meeting point without a hitch. The dog sledding experience itself was a lot of fun and nothing that my husband and I had ever done before. I'm an animal lover and it was clear that the owners of the kennel and all of the workers truly loved the dogs. We would definitely do this again if we find ourselves in Tromso!

This was one of the most beautiful things I have ever done in my life. When you love dogs & nature, let’s go for this magic trip and try even to ride your own sleigh. You will be so impressed by the strength of those dogs and the incredible nature. The Huskys are gorgeous & love to cuddle 😍 The team is amazing and will let you know everything about their job and the dogs. The home made cake after the trip was fantastic, it’s a great idea. Wish you all the best and hopefully see you soon! Thank you for this arctic adventure 🇳🇴🤍🐶

The driver was on time to take us to the destination. The moment we looked at the husky's, we knew it was all worth it. The place is very well maintained, and we were given proper boots and thermals for the cold weather. After introductions, we started the ride on our amazing 6 husky’s, and it was truly amazing. The whole path was so beautiful and serene that I felt like settling there. The ride is very safe and both partners can easily take turns to do it. After the activity, we were treated to some cake and coffee/tea in the hut. We also spent some time with the husky's and took pictures. The hosts and the whole team are extremely friendly and professional. A must do if in Tromso.
